WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE: FOREIGN – Signs we’re not in Kansas

Despite the signs in English, Kathmandu can be a little daunting for newcomers.

I’m enjoying these Weekly Photo Challenges. WordPress’s Daily Post suggests a topic to give bloggers a nudge in the ribs. We then do our best to post something worth looking at, and check out what others have come up with.

This one is about ‘Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas any more’ moments.

Street signs I come across in Asia are a constant source of innocent merriment.

Australian buses sometimes have ‘Do not distract the driver’ signs. Buses in Singapore have other rules.

I thought at first this sign on the Singapore subway train was a ‘Beware of Pickpockets’ warning.

Ah – THIS is the pickpocket sign! So that one above must be, ‘Beware of aliens with big heads and short legs.’

You’ll be able to hear every word of the sermon, even if you sit up the back in this church in Melaka, Malaysia.

You tell me what the number refers to. Altitude, floor area, perimeter, price of a beer? I have no idea. Kathmandu, Nepal.

No joke here. Sadly, this was shutting the stable door after the horse had bolted in the Phi Phi Islands, Thailand.

No, cyclists are not totally crazy in Singapore. The ban applied to the path BESIDE the water. I presume.

At last – something familiar! (Tokyo)

  5. I often see signs as crazy as some of the photos you’ve posted here. We all know that they were posted for some noble reason but hey, we can’t help it if they’re funny at the same time. :D

  9. I think that first sign on the Singapore subway train isn’t about aliens with big heads and short legs, but about molestation… Just sayin! This was a funny post, I had a bit of a giggle.
