The Keukenhof Gardens – tulips by the million
Few people celebrate Thanksgiving in Australia, but it coincided with us taking advantage of the cheaper Earlybird flights to Europe.
We booked our tickets back to Amsterdam this week, and will arrive there with the spring 2013. That’s something to be thankful for, and to celebrate with a few shots in this Weekly Photo Challenge.
We’re gratefully looking forward to…

…being part of Europe’s biggest street party.
Koninginnedag – Queens Day – April 30th

We’ll watch the kids riding to school and…

…we’ll make a few expeditions on our own bikes.

We’ll spend time with some of the world’s great art.
This is the Kroller-Muller Museum’s fabulous sculpture garden.

We’ll eat Dutch appeltaart on the cafe terraces. This one is Cafe Brinkman in Haarlem.

Then when the sun appears we’ll just generally hang out with friends, as the Dutch do.
Like it? Please pass it on!

We’re planning a trip to Europe in May, Richard. I haven’t been there for 17 years
Well do put Amsterdam on the itinerary. Caroline!
It is something to consider, Richard
Awsome takes and fantastic trip! Best wishes, hope to see your after-trip photos!
You will of course, probably far too many of them!
Now, there is something to look forward to. I have a plan somewhere in my head to take the car ferry across to Rotterdam and drive around the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg and you have just reminded me of it.
Do let me know if you’re heading Amsterdam-wards, Andrew. You guest bike is waiting in the cellar.

Spring so nice in Holland. Trying to be there too by May
Yep, tulip season is March till May, but it’s a great place to be any time. (Well, perhaps not during a cold, wet winter.)
What an amazing pictures.
very lovely..
Sitting here wishing that we had made use of the earlybird prices for flights to Europe, will have to settle for living vicariously through your travels in Spring 2013
Oh well, it’s a tough job, but someone ought to do it on behalf of those vicarious travellers. Thanks!

How do you do that music stuff? I appreciate the thought and admire the technique.

wow i love flowers that’s why i like the first picture but all of your pictures is amazing
What a great trip! I loved the sculpture garden. We rented bikes and biked around the park too. Great post!
Thanks. The Veluwe National Park and the Kroller Muller are great Dutch treasures, not well enough known outside the Netherlands.
It was very cool. We also visited at least three open air history museums. I love the Netherlands. I would love to do a bicycle trip there some day.
