This Weekly Photo Challenge asks us to think about picking small details out of larger scenes.
Last year I was fortunate enough to visit Monet’s famous garden at Giverny, France.
Naturally we couldn’t entirely avoid the obvious. I took as many shots as everyone else did of the bridges and waterlilies.
But passing under a mighty old beech tree I glanced up and noticed that the dappling of the leaves suggested Manet’s ‘dot paintings’.
The bird hit the branch at precisely the right moment to be silhouetted against the light.
Lucky again!

The first photo indeed does bring to mind Monet’s impressionistic style — sometimes those heavily-touristed spots are “must sees” for a reason. ~ Kat
It’s a lovely garden, though there are other lovely gardens in the world which are far less visited. The reason for its popularity of course is its much loved and famous former owner.

Really good Richard. I went there in 1979 on a twin town exchange visit and it is a place that I have always promised myself that I will return to. I imagine however that it gets rather busy at peak times?
We went really early in the morning. A couple of hours later it was very busy, though the attractive main street of Giverny and Monet’s grave in the churchyard weren’t too crowded – in early June.

I’ve always wanted to see Giverny and never made it even after spending 8 months in Paris. Looks lovely!
It is lovely, though as the guide reminded us, at the height of the tourist season it’s one flower per visitor. Early June was much quieter.

Beautiful photo, the light and textures make is seem like a painting.
