Chapter 86 Misunderstanding
The movie ended, and many people left in an orderly manner. However, some unexpected things happened...
'Tianyi' reporter rushed through the crowd, taking advantage of the security gap, and arrived in front of Meng'er, who was still on stage.
Jiang Yi stood in front of Meng'er, blocking her from view. "Meng'er, let's go," he said.
But Meng'er didn't move. She looked at Jiang Yi with a complicated expression.
The reporter asked, "Miss Meng'er, can you tell us about your relationship with Mr. Jiang?"
Meng'er hesitated for a moment before answering, "We are just friends."
Jiang Yi's face turned red with anger. "Friends?" he repeated. "You're more than just friends!"
Meng'er looked at him calmly. "I'm sorry, Jiang Yi. I don't know what you're talking about."
The reporter asked another question, but before Meng'er could answer, Jiang Yi interrupted, "Enough! This interview is over!"
He grabbed Meng'er's arm and pulled her away from the stage.
As they walked out of the movie theater, Meng'er struggled to free herself from Jiang Yi's grip. "Let me go!" she shouted.
But Jiang Yi didn't let go. He dragged her to a quiet corner outside the theater.
"Meng'er, what's going on?" he asked, his voice low and menacing. "Why did you lie to me?"
Meng'er looked up at him, tears in her eyes. "I didn't lie to you, Jiang Yi. I just don't want to be with you anymore."
Jiang Yi's face twisted in anger. "You're still thinking about that guy, aren't you? You're still in love with him!"
Meng'er shook her head. "No, Jiang Yi. That's not it at all."
But Jiang Yi didn't believe her. He thought she was still pining for her old flame.
Just then, Meng'er's phone rang. She answered it, and a smile spread across her face.
"Hello?" she said. "Yes, I'm at the 'Royal Movie Theater'... Okay..."
Jiang Yi snatched the phone from her hand and slammed it to the ground.
Meng'er looked up at him in shock. "What are you doing?"
But Jiang Yi just glared at her. "You're still thinking about him, aren't you? You're still in love with him!"
Meng'er sighed. "Jiang Yi, stop it. That's not what this is about."
But Jiang Yi wouldn't listen. He kept accusing her of still being in love with her old flame.
Finally, Meng'er had had enough. She stood up straight and looked Jiang Yi dead in the eye.
"Listen to me, Jiang Yi," she said. "I don't know what kind of misunderstanding this is, but I'm telling you now - it's not about him. It's about us."
Jiang Yi's face fell, and he took a step back.
Meng'er continued, "You've been misunderstanding me all along. You think I'm still in love with him, but that's not true. The truth is... I don't know if you'll believe me..."
But before she could finish, Jiang Yi interrupted her again.
"I don't want to hear it!" he shouted. "I don't care about your excuses!"
Meng'er sighed and shook her head. "Fine. If you won't listen to me, then maybe we shouldn't be together."
Jiang Yi's face turned white with rage. "You're breaking up with me?"
Meng'er nodded. "Yes. I think it's for the best."
And with that, she turned and walked away from Jiang Yi.
As she disappeared into the crowd, Jiang Yi stood there, frozen in shock.
He couldn't believe what had just happened.
But as he looked down at his phone, which was still clutched in his hand, he saw a text message from an unknown number.
"Jiang Yi," it read. "You're too late. She's already gone."
Jiang Yi's eyes widened in shock as he realized the truth - Meng'er had been trying to tell him something all along, but he hadn't listened.
And now, it was too late.
The chapter ends with Jiang Yi standing alone, his phone still clutched in his hand, as he realizes the true extent of his misunderstanding.
