Chapter 19: The Program is Selected

  Chapter Nineteenth Program Selection

Meng'er struggled to move from the school gate to her dormitory, and as soon as she entered the dormitory, she was startled. Because Yan'er saw her and seemed to have discovered a new continent, shouting: "Meng'er, how are you walking so strangely? You used to walk with a noble posture, why are you walking sideways like a crab now?"

"Keep your voice down! It's just that I've been exercising too much these past two days." Meng'er sat down on the bed frame.

"Overexerted? Meng'er, you're so bad!" Le Huan'er rushed to Meng'er's side as soon as she entered the dormitory door, slamming her things onto the table. With her left hand on her chest and her right hand supporting her chin, she looked Meng'er up and down. She had expected to see a rosy complexion and a delicate face, but instead saw a worried and knotted little face. "This doesn't look like someone who's been pampered!"

"Hmph, Le Mei'er, how can your mind be so depraved?" Yan Er looked at Mei'er with disdain.

"You know what I'm saying? Your mind is no cleaner than mine! Hmph!"

"Alright, you guys, I've had enough of practicing swordplay! What were you thinking? Go to sleep! If you still want to continue, turn down the volume for me or go to the bathroom!" After finishing speaking, Meng Er climbed onto the bed and fell asleep with her head covered.

"You see, it's all your fault! Guessing randomly!" Yan Er said with a 'it's all your fault' expression looking at Mei Er. Mei Er then gave her a 'can't be bothered to reason with you' look and went off to pack up her own things.

The next day, Meng Er got up early and went for a run on the playground. She didn't know that because she hadn't informed anyone in advance, the dormitory was already in an uproar.

"I told you she was acting strange last night," Mei'er said.

"I also think it's not quite right," said Zi Qi.

"Should we tell our counselor?" Yan Er asked with concern, abandoning her usual indifferent attitude.

"What are you going to tell the counselor?" Meng'er pushed open the door and entered.

"Ah, baby, where did you go!" Mei'er hastily rushed over and asked anxiously.

"Meng, it's all because of her reckless words last night, but you can't just disappear without a word at dawn, making us think something happened to you?" Yan's words were directed at Mei, and Mei knew she was just talking, so she didn't continue arguing with her. Because, she was more concerned about Meng's situation now.

"It's nothing, I'm going for a morning run!"

"Morning run?" This time, it was the most tacit understanding they had ever had since their dormitory was established. The three girls actually asked her in unison, and their expressions could be described with two words: astonishment.

"Right! Didn't I say last night that I'm starting to practice swordsmanship? The coach said it's best to go for a morning run every day, keeping the whole body in a state of exercise!"

"Beat it, you scared me to death! I thought someone had fooled you and you'd run away from school in a fit of pique!"

Mei's face was still in a state of shock, but she didn't know that her words had brought an even greater shock to the other three people. Only later did she realize, after half a minute of no one responding to her, that the people beside her were staring at her with terrified expressions.

"What's wrong with you? If you haven't eaten pork, you've seen pigs run, right!" Mei'er took two steps back in horror, the three of them had terrifying gazes.

"But we've really never seen pigs run before!"

Mei'er was shocked and looked at the three of them in unison. Moreover, their eyes emitted a signal that something bad was about to happen. Mei'er continued to back away, but the three of them stepped closer step by step. Finally, Mei'er let out a "wa" sound, covered her head with both hands, and squatted on the ground. The other three, in an instant, Zi Qi grabbed her left hand, Yan Er grabbed her right hand, and Meng Er made her face him squarely.

"Mei'er, we won't take your **, let's just take your first morning instead! Sisters, get to work!"

The three pairs of hands fell on Mei's waist, neck and armpits at the same time. Because they all knew that Mei was afraid of being tickled, and those places were her weaknesses.

Then, waves of begging voices and waves of laughter came from the 606 dormitory. A beautiful week began with a beautiful morning...

On Wednesday, the class activity of National Day performance selection was underway. It wasn't until then that she discovered that everyone in her class was a hidden dragon. They almost surpassed Teacher Zhao's crosstalk, almost surpassed Teacher Lin's poetry and song composition, and almost surpassed Teacher Yang's acting skills, leaving them all stunned. And surprisingly, there were even four people from one dormitory who came up with four different programs.

"They don't get along!" Erzi said affirmatively.

"They love showing off!" Mei'er said calmly, raising an eyebrow.

Meng'er silently watched them, and their performance was indeed a mix of love and hate! Didn't they realize that their few words had already attracted the attention of people nearby? But they still managed to remain calm, what kind of past could have nurtured these two people, who in the midst of the bustling city, could possess a state of mind as if no one was around?! Meng'er just wanted to tell them about the situation around them, but Zi Qi spoke up: "It's our turn now!"

They walked hand in hand into the center of the circle surrounded by tables. Then they dispersed, and Zi Qi took a few steps forward. The accompaniment started, and Zi Qi's singing voice flowed out like a spring, immediately quieting down the still somewhat noisy classroom. After finishing her song, Zi Qi retreated back to the group, and Meng Er followed with a gentle and elegant singing voice that was accompanied by the melody, taking slow steps forward, astonishing a large number of classmates. Next were Yan Er and Mei Er, with different vocal lines but seamless coordination; their movements and eye contact seemed like those of a well-rehearsed team. When the song ended, applause erupted, and they bowed to thank the audience.

It's unclear whether it was the performance of their dormitory program that was too stunning, or if the subsequent dormitory programs were just too dull. In any case, the class had already exploded and couldn't focus anymore. The following performances seemed to pass by quickly, and then they were over.

Finally, the counselor and the class cadres discussed and adopted a secret ballot to select. Ten minutes later, the team leader slowly walked to the center of the activity and cleared his throat: "Thank you for responding to the counselor's call and providing so many programs for our class. However, only one program is needed for the National Day performance. After voting by classmates and discussion between counselors and class cadres, it was finally decided that the 606 dormitory with beautiful voices would represent our class in the National Day cultural and artistic performance!

"Hey, is it us?" Yan'er asked hesitantly, nudging Mei'er with her elbow. After all, there were still a few good shows left!

"Yes!" Mei'er rarely smiled and spoke to Yan'er with a smile. But now, in such an environment, no matter what Mei'er did, they wouldn't think it was strange. After all, this is an event that represents the whole class, and behind the scenes, there's a huge temptation - spending a lot of money to enter the entertainment industry! Although they didn't have this intention, but being able to come to this honor still made them feel very happy.

"Go on, Meng Er, go out and thank them!" Zi Qi gave Meng Er a push.

"Me?" Meng'er looked at them uncertainly, but Zi Qi's eyes were like "it's you"; she also looked at Mei'er and Yan'er, who also had an expression of "it's you". Meng'er couldn't help it, so she took a step back. Just as she took that step, the other three people stood up beside her. She looked around, a confident smile on her face, and stepped forward with confidence.

"Thank you for the teacher's affirmation and the support of my classmates! 606 will not disappoint everyone's expectations, we will rehearse well and strive to win honors for our class! Thank you!"

Then, the four of them bowed in unison, and a round of applause erupted from all around!
