Chapter 49: Meng Er's Disappearance (Part 2)

  The vibration of Mei'er's mobile phone broke the silence in the room. She quickly checked her messages.

  Canghai Big Brother: Meng'er is not with me, go back home and ask her. But Meng'er didn't go back, what's going on?

  Mei'er: She went for a morning run and hasn't come back yet.

  Canghai big brother: Send me your phone number!

  They saw Mei'er's hand holding the phone tremble slightly, and then she typed a string of numbers on the keyboard. After that, her phone started vibrating. Her face was tense, but she spoke in a calm tone: "She went for a morning run and didn't come back. We've been to all the places she usually goes to, and we've made an announcement, but she's nowhere to be found! A classmate said they saw her going to the Yiwang Entertainment Center this morning, but Meng'er didn't bring her phone!"

  Then, Mei'er responded with a couple of "uh-huhs" and hung up!

  "What's wrong? What did Canghai Jun say?" Yan'er asked anxiously after seeing her hang up the phone.

  He said he would go directly to Huang's place to find someone and then come back.

  "Why don't we go get something to eat?" Qin Su suggested, looking at the few of them waiting listlessly for news. "Nothing's going to happen, don't worry!"

  They responded, but no one moved. Qin Su saw the situation and opened the door to go out. Ten minutes later, he came back with a big bag of takeout. "Eat something whether you have an appetite or not! Zi Qi, and all of you!"

  They didn't want to disappoint Qin Su's kind intentions, so they moved over. Just as Mei'er was about to start eating, the phone rang. After pressing the hands-free button, Cang Haijun's voice came from the other end.

  "Mei'er, I'm now at the south gate of your school. Come out and we'll go to the school's security office together!" Changhai Jun's voice came from the other end of the line, calm and powerful.

  "Alright!" Mei'er hung up the phone and gave a glance at Zi Qi and Yan'er, then walked out while they quickly followed.

A person in school uniform was seen sitting in front of a computer, opening a file and scrolling to the time when Meng Er went for her morning run today. Indeed, Meng Er was seen leaving from the North Gate, chatting with the campus police at the gate for a few sentences. Meng Er's face looked calm, as if nothing had happened.

  "She's telling the truth, she really is following Meng Er!" Yan Er exclaimed. Because on the screen, Zou Bing was indeed following behind Meng Er, but the location of the bus stop was not within the surveillance range.

  "Who is she?" asked Jing Tianyou, who had been standing silently beside him all along.

  "Meng Er's junior high school classmate, but I think she looks suspicious!" Mei Er replied with a frown.

  "She said Meng'er had something urgent to attend to at the Imperial Palace, and you couldn't find Meng'er at the Imperial Palace. She was the last person to see Meng'er! Then why did she go out? How could it be such a coincidence that she ran into Meng'er?! And just now, when we were about to come looking for you, she said she had class and left early!   "Which department and class are you in? What courses are you taking?" asked Jing Tianyou.

  "Look!" said Yan Er, pointing at the monitor on Zi Qi's right side. "Isn't that person Zou Bing? Where is she going? Didn't she say she was going to class?"

  Canghai Jun exchanged a glance with Qingtian Yu, and Han Ye, who had been silent beside them, suddenly shouted: "The little princess must have been taken away by her..."

  Everyone ignored him and walked past him out of the police station...
