In the cold, sterile bowels of WAO's underground facility, humanity's next blasphemy floated in quiet gestation. Lab 2A was a symphony of steel and light—its metallic walls gleamed under harsh white fluorescents, reflecting off countless terminals manned by grim-faced technicians. A robotic voice echoed system reports, looping endlessly like a digital heartbeat.
In the center stood a large transparent capsule filled with an amber fluid. Suspended inside was a child—not born, but engineered. Artificial wombs had replaced nature’s course, simulating every step of human reproduction with surgical precision. The goal: to create a being devoid of love, anger, or mercy. A weapon in human form.
Above, from a high platform surrounded by advanced displays, Chief Executive Director Vex observed silently. His face was pale, unreadable.
A bell rang.“Session complete. Nite, Kate, your shift is over,” the robotic voice announced.
The door behind Vex opened with a hiss. Sole and Nathan stepped in.

“Good morning, Chief. How are you?” Sole asked.
Vex’s voice was flat. “Fine.”
“Today, huh?” Nathan added, more a statement than a question.
“It’s estimated,” Vex replied.
Both nodded solemnly. Kate, gathering her things, gave Vex a parting glance. “Be ready.”
Suddenly, alarms shrieked. The baby began to convulse in the tank.
“Vitals are spiking!” shouted one technician.
Before anyone could react, the supporting umbilical cord detached on its own. The infant drifted down slowly through the thick fluid. Then, with a mechanical hiss, the base of the tank opened. The liquid drained rapidly.
The baby slid out onto the padded collection tray—silent, breath steady. It did not cry.
But the lab cheered.
