Chapter 6: Linghu Chong II 4
"Class monitor, it's a small courtesy call from Lu Da..."
Linghu Chong had just sat down when he heard Lu Dahu shouting outside. Ever since Lu Dahu and the others witnessed Yang Kang's ruthless tactics, no one dared to kick open Linghu Chong's door to ask for compensation again. Lu Dahu gradually developed this habit, anyway he was idle and had nothing better to do, so he might as well play some tricks.
"Dispense with the formalities, report any matters at once, and withdraw if there are none." Linghu Chong had no choice but to push open the door.
Lu Da trotted in with small steps: "Thank you, Squad Leader Long, is there a ticket for the evening party?"
"How many of you want to go? There are only a few tickets. Those who want to go, speak up; those who don't, let them stand aside."
"That's it," Lu Dàyǒu suddenly became very serious, "I guarantee with my personal character that in our class, except for the class leader, only I want to go. Why don't we add all the tickets together and make five more... sell the extra ones as advertisements..."
"Damn it! You little brat is really ruthless!" Linghu Cong cursed with a smile, and Lu Dahai didn't care either.
Linghu Cong simply gave the remaining three tickets to Lu Dahai: "See how many boys want to go, and divide them up."
"Am I considered an imperial envoy now?"
"Also, don't occupy my seat," Linghu Cong hastily pulled up Lu Dahu who was sitting in front of the computer.
"The class leader really broke Lao Chen's heart." Lu Dahuai didn't get to play the game, but he got the ticket and went with great enthusiasm.
Linghu Chong never thought that just twenty minutes later, Lu Dahu would scurry back.
"Head of the class, you'd better distribute the votes. Without your leadership, we'll be in a hopeless situation." Lu Dahu handed the three ballots to Linghu Chong.
"Hey, you're so wronged?"
"To be honest, there isn't," said Lu Dahu with a shake of his head. "But when I went to distribute the ballots, no one paid any attention to me."
"Alas!" Linghu Chong patted Lu Dahu's shoulder, shook his head and sighed, "You can't even handle a small task, I was planning to pass the position of class leader to you."
"Today I finally know how Yao and Shun passed on the throne, it turns out that their sons were not emperors, but class monitors!" Lu Dahu said deeply.
Linghu Cong felt that Lu Dahu sometimes spoke with great depth, but at this moment there was no time to think about it. He said, "Let those who want to go come and discuss it together."
Lu Da suddenly came back, no one brought him.
"Class Monitor... I..." Lu Dàyǒu said, "Failed!"
"What does it mean? Nobody wants to go."
"It's wrong, it's just that everyone wants to go and no one wants to come," said Lu Dahu with a crooked mouth. "Tell the few in our house who want a fairer distribution plan to say something about it."
"Damn it! Do I still have to gather a standing committee, make a plan book, and do a feasibility report for them to review?"
"It's almost perfect, if only someone could witness it."
"Go play elsewhere," Linghu Cong said, somewhat annoyed. "Forget it, you take one and sell the remaining two, we can still buy a few more bottles of beer."
But anyway, Linghu Chong really didn't have the guts to sell those two extra tickets. He was different from Yang Kang and didn't dare do things that would provoke public anger. So Linghu Chong could only scratch his head hard, scratching it into a chicken's nest, after which he finally came up with an idea: "Why not draw lots then? Nineteen lots, three yeses, sixteen nos, whoever gets picked counts?"
"Head of the class is Shengming, then you do it and I'll take it back to them," Lu Dahu didn't wait for Linghu Chong to finish speaking, and swiftly ran over to cut with Yang Kang.
"My goodness, his conscience is really gone." Linghu Chong thought that only he could do it.
He had no choice, so he tore up a notebook, wrote nineteen paper slips into small balls and threw them into a paper box to knock on Lu Dahai's head: "It's my turn, it's my turn."
Lu Dajun took the paper box and left, but soon afterwards, Linghu Chong heard someone knocking on the door again.
"Damn it, this is such a nuisance!" Linghu Chong muttered to himself as he went to open the door. This time, it wasn't Lu Dahu at the entrance, but rather Liang Fa, Gao Genming, Shi Daizi and others. A group of people squeezed into the dormitory, instantly turning it into a sardine can.
"Haven't you done something that's against the law and reason?" Yang Kang whispered to Linghu Chong, "This is just like a mass petition."
Liang Fa threw a crumpled paper onto the table: "It can't be drawn like this! It's not fair to draw like this!"
Linghu Cong thought for a moment and said: "Won't it be unfair if we catch him like this? It's not like I'm helping you guys catch him."
"Those who drew first have the advantage," said Liang Fa, "the four people who drew first took all three tickets, and we're left with nothing to draw from. Isn't that just fooling around?"
Linghu Cong only then understood that the four people who drew first had coincidentally drawn three tickets each, leaving no more to be drawn.
"This... this bitter fate can't be blamed on the government, the government is innocent," Linghu Cong sighed.
"Isn't the probability of winning higher for those who draw first?" Shi Daizi questioned.
"It's definitely more likely to be drawn first," Liang concluded. "Otherwise, how could the first four have yielded three?"
"Innumerable martial arts masters have found the secret manual of martial arts after jumping off a cliff, it can be seen that when luck comes, even mountains can't stop it, you can't blame those who drew good luck first, right?"
"Good grief, what's this," said Liang Fa, unamused by Linghu Cong's joke. "This drawing method is definitely unfair."
"It's fair." Yang Kang looked at the crowd packed in their dorm and got annoyed, chiming in, "Whether you draw first or last, the probability is absolutely the same."
"How is it possible? The one who draws first will have more opportunities." said Shi Daizi in a soft and gentle tone.
"Have you studied probability theory?" Yang Kang sighed, "It's just fair in mathematics."
"This still needs to be revised? It doesn't seem right either," Liang Fa's mouth was still hard, but his heart was a bit weak. The liberal arts students like Linghu Chong and Liang Fa were naturally not as good as Yang Kang, who came from the science competition team. Yang Kang had already organized a snow cone betting game with their class when he was 13 years old.
"Go ahead, don't believe me? Go back and run a program to count it yourself." Yang Kang snorted disdainfully.
"And how many of the lots you've made are actually real? How do we know it's fair?" Liang Fa couldn't withstand Yang Kang's momentum, feeling embarrassed but still trying to put on a brave face, turned his head to ask Lin Huong.
"What's the use of pretending?" Linghu Chong said with a bitter face.
"We'll open it and take a look." Liang Fa went to grab the box from Lu Da You's hand.
Linghu Cong was really a bit impatient this time, and he grabbed the box in front of Liang Fa: "Are you annoyed or not? If you believe me, I'll draw lots. If you don't believe me, then divide it yourself. A broken evening party, I've seen the rehearsal, there's nothing at all, what's there to fight for?"
"Right, and what about the dress rehearsal tickets? How come we didn't know?" Gao Genming suddenly remembered.
"I left a note on your door, you have to take a look. No one came to pick up the ticket with me, so I went with Lu Da You instead."
"Those who went to the dress rehearsal don't need to draw lots," said Liang Fa. "You and Lu Da Yu don't need to draw lots either!"
As the front beam's voice grew louder, the discussions of several people behind also annoyed Linghu Cong to the extreme. He didn't understand why something as simple as dividing a few votes had become like this. Was he, Linghu Cong, really that much of a failure?
