The Beginning

The day of the Shift, everything changed. The population was cut by more than half. People, objects, everything thrown into the sky, and burned in the atmosphere. There was a small elven derived village named Solarae, as it was of the Sun. It was a bright, sunny day, and most of its people were in the forest beyond the village to gather herbs and kindling.

When the gravity shifted, and the town was thrown into chaos, the people in the forest were saved. They flew upwards, but the branches of the trees reached out like hands, and held them to the ground. It guided them slowly to the center of the forest, to the great Tree, from which all other trees had been birthed. And the Earth Mother gifted them a sanctuary. A door opened in the trunk of the tree, and down a tunnel to a glowing cavern, filled with lush flowers, and trees, animals.

It was thriving, and though the people were scared, they were grateful to the Earth Mother. The Mother appeared to them in all her glory, a ghostly figure that none could look at directly. Hardly more than a hundred of them had been brought down, though more would be brought in the coming months, but only one of them was older than fourteen. The oldest, a sixteen year old girl named Aurielia, called Lia by the rest of the children was appointed as their leader for the time. She brought together the children, and over the years helped them grow their sanctuary and made it more livable. This was ten years ago. She grew into a wise and beautiful woman, her eyes deeper than the greenest green, which pierced anyone she laid them on.

It was her idea to make metal boots, to use outside, so that they could walk along the ground without fear of being pulled away. But now, gravity itself seemed to be growing stronger, and the storms that constantly circled the forest became more frequent. And it was up to her to find out how to stop it. Before her home was destroyed, and her people were thrown into the sky once more.
