Chapter 21 What Should Be Done
The sky has darkened.
Up till now, Xu Wei'er still hasn't returned home, and Xu Zihua can't help but feel a bit worried.
A family sat at the dinner table eating, each person seemingly lost in their own thoughts.
"Dad, Mom, I'm full." Since breaking up with Lei Xiangrui, Xu Xin'er has been distracted and lost interest in everything, including eating. She didn't even touch her bowl of rice. She put down her chopsticks, gave a perfunctory smile to her parents, and got up to leave.
"Xiang'er, has something happened recently?" Xu Zihua vaguely felt that something was off. Since Wei'er returned home, he discovered that Xiang'er had a heavy heart, a very heavy heart. The previously cheerful Xiang'er now always looked gloomy and depressed.
"Dad, nothing's wrong, I've just been busy with school lately." Xu Xiner deliberately avoided eye contact with her father, not daring to look directly at Xu Zihua's eyes, and replied nervously.
"Xin'er, tell Daddy honestly, what's going on?" But Xu Zihua had clearly discovered the clues. From young to old, he had always been so fond of Xin'er, and he knew exactly what Xin'er liked and what her personality was like. How could he not have noticed Xin'er's abnormality?
"Dad, really nothing!" However, Xu Xiner just didn't want to answer Xu Zihua's question, she smiled perfunctorily, "Don't think wildly, I'm really just busy with school."
"Is it because of Wei Er?" In fact, Xu Zihua's heart was clear about this. Since Wei Er came back, his concern for Xiang Er had obviously decreased compared to before, but he didn't dislike Xiang Er anymore. He did this to make up for the guilt he felt towards Wei Er over the years, and he hoped Xiang Er could understand.
Xu Xiner didn't say anything, she just buried her head down.
Xu Zihua knew that Xu Xiner was taking his words for granted, so he let out a helpless sigh and gently stroked Xu Xiner's head. He spoke with a heavy heart: "Xiner, Dad knows that Wei'er is back home, you must be uncomfortable, you must be feeling distressed. But Dad hopes you can understand, Wei'er is your biological sister, you two are sisters. Wei'er has suffered so much outside, Dad owes her an apology, so Dad hopes that in the future, you can give up good things for Wei'er's sake. Dad is doing this just to make up for all these years of owing her, do you understand?"
Thinking of this, Xu Zihua really regretted it. If time could be turned back, he would not have sent Wei'er to someone else for upbringing. No matter how hard or tired he was, he would have persevered and perhaps things wouldn't have turned out the way they did now.
"Dad, is it because of guilt that you can give everything to my sister?" Xu Xiner suddenly raised her head and looked into her father Xu Zihua's eyes, asking in an unusually calm tone.
"Xin'er, Daddy didn't understand what you meant by that sentence." Xu Zihua was unaccustomed to and very uncomfortable with the fact that his soft and gentle daughter would speak to him in such a tone.
"Dad, Lei Xiangrui likes Wei'er, he likes Wei'er!"
Her emotions suddenly became very agitated, and Xu Xiner sadly finished speaking before quickly rushing upstairs. The only sound was the door slamming shut with a loud "bang".
Xu Zihua finally understood why Xinger had been acting so strangely lately, it turned out that there was a problem with her feelings for Lei Xiangrui?!
But why? Why did Lei Xiangrui fall in love with Wei Er again?!
