Mysterious and yet clear
21st century
In this bustling city, people are busy living their ordinary days. In an ordinary yet extraordinary house, when the first ray of sunlight enters the room, every corner is illuminated.
"Ding ding ding~~~" The alarm clock rang on time.
On a big bed, the person who was sleeping with their head covered slowly stretched out one hand from under the blanket to turn off the noisy alarm clock. Then the blanket was lifted, and a messy golden-haired head appeared in the white light, looking particularly dazzling. After yawning unattractively, the amber-colored eyes narrowed and stared blankly at the wall in front of them.
After a few seconds, the girl on the bed finally came back to her senses and was willing to get out of bed. She picked up the clothes on the chair and put them on.
Her name is Xuan Shi Ran, an ordinary first-year high school student, a genuine Chinese girl. Due to her family's genetic legacy, she has blonde hair and eyes of different colors that stand out in the crowd of black-haired and black-eyed people, so her classmates have given her the nickname "Foreigner". Also because of the similar pronunciation of her name, some people like to call her "Si Lang". Although her appearance and name are both unusual, this girl has an outstanding appearance. If you ignore her name, anyone who sees her will associate her with mixed-blood children and foreign dolls.
After changing into a nice outfit, she stood in front of the mirror and picked up a comb to tidy her golden long hair. Then she walked over to the calendar and took a look, the date marked with a red pen was exactly today, which happened to be her 16th birthday.
"Xiao Ran, come down and have breakfast!" The voice came from downstairs. "I know, mom," the girl replied, turning her gaze away from the door and leaving.
"Mom, good morning," Xuan Yanran smiled and greeted the woman with black hair who was facing away from her.
"Early, Xiao Ran." The woman turned around and brought a bowl of longevity noodles that Chinese people must eat on their birthdays, then gently placed it in front of Xuan Ze Yan, smiling and saying, "Xiao Ran, happy birthday."
"Thank you, mom." The girl's eyes were filled with moving gaze looking at the beautiful and gentle woman in front of her.
Picking up her chopsticks and starting to eat noodles, she didn't forget to look back at the surroundings, "Mom, Dad?"
"Your dad has gone out to buy you a cake, Xiao Ran. In a while, take the breakfast over to Grandpa." The woman put another prepared breakfast on the dining table.
"Hmm" Xuan Yi nodded slightly.
After finishing the longevity noodles, she walked along a path in the backyard that led directly to the temple. Her grandfather, who was the abbot of the temple, had always lived there and rarely came into contact with outsiders except for family members.
Also because of his introverted personality, he was called a "weirdo" by outsiders, but only his family knew that this old man had always been gentle and optimistic, only showing it to his family.
Upon arriving at the temple, Xuan saw an old man standing beside the large bell, shaved head and wearing a red kasaya. "Grandfather," she called out to him in her clear and sweet voice.
The old man turned around, and the benevolent smile on his face full of wrinkles seemed especially kind, if you ignored the scar that occupied half of his cheek.
He had asked his grandfather about the scar before, but he always looked ahead with a sorrowful gaze and didn't answer. After a long time, even if he didn't mention it again, perhaps this was something he least wanted to bring up.
The old man with a hoarse but very kind voice called out to the girl.
"Grandpa, I've brought your breakfast." Xuan Yiran put the breakfast on the stone table and picked up a broom that was placed aside, saying: "Grandpa, let me help you sweep the floor."
The old man nodded slightly with a smile, and when he was about to say something, Xuan Yiran immediately picked up the conversation, "That warehouse can't be visited"
The old man nodded in satisfaction and sat down on the stone bench.
Xuan Ye took the broom and headed towards the temple, unaware of why her grandfather didn't let her go to the warehouse on the west side. Although she was very curious, she endured it.
The old man looked up at the azure sky, his amber eyes filled with sorrow and nostalgia. "It's been 50 years, Wang..." The last word was drowned out by the incoming wind.
