Chapter Seven
The final exam of the first semester of high school year one
Chen Haotian was first in English, top five in Politics and Language, and top twenty in other subjects. Overall, he ranked seventh in total score, and his grade... roughly around thirty-something, because the international class and ordinary class have different progress, Chen Haotian is not very clear about the specific difference.
In short, if it weren't for her crazy English scores, no matter how hard she worked, she would absolutely be unable to get such a high ranking!
Everything starts anew; it's impossible for everything to be ahead of others all the time.
It's good that this life's body has improved a lot through deliberate exercise.
"Chen Huaicheng, did you just buy new sport pants?" A female classmate from the next class over ran up and then jogged alongside Chen Huaicheng.
Most of those who get along with her are girls who ask her how to make facial masks. Of course, there are also people who think that her family is poor and can't afford new clothes and beauty products.
"Ah, and the coat is a set." Chen Huaixing was quite satisfied with this brand, the cut, material, and warmth were all pretty good, it's just a bit big, just right to give her another 3-4 cm of space.
This set of clothes was given to my mother by the boss of the company where she works, after she had been asked several times. She finally agreed to give a "lesson" to the second-year junior high school student, and received this autumn and winter sports suit from the United States as payment, along with waterproof multipurpose sports shoes of the same brand, which is worth about half a month's salary for my mother. The parents were amused by my mother's story about how she disciplined her rebellious younger brother who was in his second year of junior high school, and begged her to give their second-year middle school student four weeks of Sunday tutoring. Not only did she satisfy her own "old lady" mentality, but she also made the acne-covered middle school boy - oh, she even helped him get rid of some of his pimples and blackheads! - so afraid of speaking in front of her that he was worried about being scolded in four languages: English, Japanese, German, and French. And all this kid could think about was getting into an international class and beating my mother's scores! Oh, what a delightful middle school boy!
"Your shoes... aren't they Nike?"
"Not Nike, but Bia. Hasn't entered the mainland market yet, it was brought back by one of my mom's American colleagues."
"Oh!" The girl definitely hadn't heard of it, but everyone knows that America isn't. "My mom wants me to take the TOEFL. I'll go study in the US later."
"No matter how good your TOEFL score is, it's very hard to get a scholarship. You also won't have too much time to work part-time."
"It's not a medical or law school, and the tuition and living expenses for four years would be around $100,000. The tuition in the US is not that expensive yet, and this classmate doesn't seem like they could get into an Ivy League school anyway. Unless it's a community college, which is much cheaper... but it's too mediocre. You'd better finish your undergraduate degree, take the GRE, and then apply for a less competitive major to try to get a full scholarship."
"Wow! You're also going to study in the US?!"
"Of course not!" She's a well-off white-collar worker, um, okay, so she plans to be a gray-collar worker for the rest of her life, hmm, anyway, living a relaxed and comfortable, ordinary, long and healthy life in her favorite city is more in line with her ideals. "I'm not going abroad to study."
"Why did you take the international class then?" The two of them were now running at a speed comparable to walking because they were too busy talking.
"My grades are good, and the pre-exam was only for international classes, so I took it. Moreover, I think the English teacher in the international class should be better than that of ordinary classes."
"I give up!"
Ran two laps around the playground at a "slow" pace, then Chen Haosheng did ten push-ups. In fact, he couldn't do any more than that.
"What are you doing push-ups for? Won't your arms get thicker?" The female classmate from the neighboring class, whose name she had forgotten, got angry again.
"...Chen Huaisheng finished and stood up, "As long as you don't overdo it, just keep your chest out, tuck in your belly, and prevent butterfly sleeves."
The girl hesitated for a few seconds and immediately started doing push-ups... Three of them fell onto the mat.
"You can just do two sets of three or four from now on." Chen Xiao Cheng helped her up, then lay down to do sit-ups. "Sit-ups won't make your belly bigger, but don't overdo it either. Stop while you're ahead. You should probably stop at thirty."
Fifty, finished. Stop work and return to classroom.
Because she ran 800 meters, and did sit-ups and push-ups, all under the watchful eyes of the teachers and students on the playground, so no one said anything when she ended her physical education class early.
Just walked out of the playground, heard someone practicing student-style flute. Alas! Why is she good at everything, but music is just not her thing? She blows the flute and it sounds like a ghost wailing... Fortunately, music class in high school only lasts for a year... Alas, nobody's perfect!
Chen Hua Sheng hummed a French version of "La Traviata" with imperfect five tones, definitely with many mistakes, and sauntered back to the classroom.
“s……”
So shocked that all birds and beasts fell silent along the way
。
Gather your things and get ready to leave the classroom as soon as the bell rings!
There's a small rack in the fridge, and most of the fatty meat has been trimmed off. After blanching to remove the fishy smell, stewing it into a soup is the best option. This kind of meat soup has less fat and more nutrients. If you're too lazy, just chop up some greens and throw them into the pot, and dinner is settled. Hmm, I rode my bike home and quickly cooked something. I'll eat dinner before 6 pm - tonight she's the only one eating at home. Originally, her parents told her to go out and eat somewhere popular like KFC, but unfortunately, she was very determined to take care of herself. Hmm, or maybe chop up some greens, add two eggs, and make a fried rice dish to go with the small rack soup? It seems like there's still some leftover rice in the fridge, and definitely a few corns, just lacking winter melon - otherwise it would be a perfect winter melon corn pork rib soup... If only I had cheese, that would be truly awesome!
"Chen Hua Sheng? Today's my birthday, KFC is treating us, wanna go together?" Dong Xue Min grabbed her. "I've also invited several classmates, Zhu Jin, Li Xiao Bo, Shan Ming Ming... and Pang Hua and a few others!"
This girl has a mysterious and complacent expression on her face.
"How much money have you prepared for treating us?" Chen Huan asked in a low voice.
"Two hundred! I wasn't in the top ten for last semester's final exams, and Mom and Dad gave me a lot of rewards. Hey, do you know Pang Hua?"
Chen Haosheng shook his head.
".... Wasn't the first place in that class Zuo Zhixuan?"
"First place? Awesome. Don't know her." Didn't even remember. She really didn't have the ability to get first place, only had a share of admiration, jealousy and hatred.
"Hey! Don't be so uncooperative!" Dong Xue Min glanced at the unfamiliar foreign logo on her jacket, thinking that although she usually dressed in a rustic and unremarkable way, today's outfit was somehow different, not too shabby, and with her second-place ranking in the English class, she would have some face to show off at the birthday party.
“……I'll just go then.” If Mom and Dad come home for dinner, she definitely won't eat out without saying hello! What's so good about KFC? Especially during this time of year when they don't even have pie or rice. Oh right, there's coffee, although it's made from cheap beans, that's still better than the instant coffee with a strong burnt taste!
