Chapter 40: A Confession of Love

  The next morning, Cheng Xi went to work with a pleasant mood. The warm sunlight of early autumn made her feel comfortable and relaxed. She walked into the office with a light step, but her heart was still filled with thoughts of the previous day's events.

  As she sat at her desk, she couldn't help but think about Xu Ze's confession. Why did he say those words to her? Was it just out of sympathy or was there something more?

  Just then, her colleague came over and started chatting with her. Cheng Xi tried to focus on the conversation, but her mind kept wandering back to Xu Ze.

  Suddenly, she heard a commotion outside the office. She looked up to see Xu Ze standing in the doorway, looking handsome and confident as always.

  "Cheng Xi, can I talk to you for a minute?" he asked, his eyes locked onto hers.

  Cheng Xi's heart skipped a beat as she nodded and followed him out of the office.

  As they walked down the hallway, Xu Ze turned to her and said, "I wanted to apologize again for what happened yesterday. I know it was sudden and unexpected, but I couldn't help how I feel."

  Cheng Xi looked up at him, her eyes searching for answers. "What do you mean?" she asked, trying to sound calm.

  Xu Ze took a deep breath before speaking. "I mean that I have feelings for you, Cheng Xi. I know it may seem sudden, but I couldn't help how I feel. You're an amazing person, and I want to be with you."

  Cheng Xi's heart was racing as she processed his words. No one had ever confessed their love to her like this before.

  "I...I don't know what to say," she stuttered, trying to gather her thoughts.

  Xu Ze smiled and took a step closer to her. "You don't have to say anything right now. Just think about it, okay? I'll wait for your answer."

  Cheng Xi nodded, still in shock from his confession. As they parted ways, she couldn't help but feel a flutter in her chest.

  Was this really happening? Was Xu Ze truly interested in her?

  As she walked back to her desk, Cheng Xi couldn't shake off the feeling that her life was about to change forever.

  Meanwhile, outside the office building, Xu Ze stood waiting for Cheng Xi's response. He had never felt this way about anyone before, and he knew that he would do anything to make her happy.

  "I'll wait for your answer," he whispered to himself, a smile spreading across his face.
