Chapter 1

This is a tale of Revenge and Glory, a tail of a man that wanted to become a god, but along the way he made one mistake he created the devil. Date, 26 years before the end of the apocalypse. It was a cold night in the city of Eden on the East shore of Isha. A year old elf of the Rise family was sleeping soundly until it felt an icy wind rush into its room.

His mother ran in screaming, "No Rev-" in an instant she was dead

The child awoke with a taste of blood in its mouth. It begins to cry as it feels the blood drip down its face and the room begins to freeze. The child tries to open its eyes but they fill with blood. Then a shadowy figure approaches the doorway of the child's room.

"Oh young one," the voice says sounding tired and cold

During this moment of panic, the elf child experienced a transformation that nobody had seen in a hundred years. The young child cried and cried as his mother's blood seeping into him and skin began to be changed an ashy grey color. In that moment.

Elfen guards came rushing in and murmured to each other, "Someone has really wiped out the Rise family."

The cries of the child caught the attention of the Elf guard, who hurried to help, but found themselves too stunned to approach. Eventually, one of them came closer to pick up the child. In that moment, the child opened its eyes, now a dark crimson.

The guard holding the child spoke "Tell the chief we need to arrange a meeting"

another elf guard responded "right away sir"as he left the room with haste

The elf chief of Eden was alerted and called to have a meeting

an elf guard that was on the fence steps up to speak "as you know Chief we have had several other reports of elf killing in several cities across the last year, but this time it was the Rise family that was taken out in a single night and as you know the Rise family is a Royal family, this is the first time a family of there status has been attacked, but there was a survivor a young elf child Rev___ Rise"

The chief appears troubled. "Just like the other poor kids," voice is soft and compassionate

The elf guard seems nervous, which is noticed by his other guards. He finally opens his mouth. "bring the child in"

The door opens to the chief's office as a guard carries the elf child in wrapped in cloth then presented to the chief as the cloth covering the child's face is removed.

The chief's tired eyes light up in shock. "Is that a dark elf!" his hand trembling on his desk.

The elf guard holding the child says "it appears so, the Rise child has turned into a dark elf"

as everyone stares at the dark elf child, it opens its eyes, showing their crimson color

The chief thinks to himself, "how can something that is so to be so evil be so beautiful"

The guard covers the child face "what are we to do about this child, chief? We have yet to alert the king that the Rise family was wiped out along with the information that the newborn has been turned"

The chief stands up and jesters to hand the child over. "He is still of the king's blood, a royal among elves. We can't kill him."

He stands there with a troubled look in his face as he moves the cloth covering the child's face. He stares into its eyes and sees how the roots of the child's hair are turning white. He hands the child back to the guard. "But as you know we can't keep it, none of you are to report to the king that a dark elf has been born"

the guard looks skeptical but is too scared to voice any countering options

One of the guard finally speaks up, "so what are we to do with the child"

the Chief glares at him causing the guard to straighten up "you are you send him to a human camp that way he will at least be of benefit to Eden even if its small there's no need to kill a child that's wrongs are not of their own fault"

The guards look at each other but the room is silent until the guard holding the child speaks. His voice is ferm and unwavering. "Right away sir" He then leaves with the child.

  11 years later...

A voice of a guard echoes through the halls of the cold farm house "enough!"

The room clears up. "Why do you keep these freak around" one of the human workers says.

As the crowed fizzes out, a small child is left in the middle wrapped in torn cloth, bruises red like hot iron, but his eyes are brighter than the sun.

You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.

The guard approaches "get up child, there's work to do" the guard is close but his voice is distant echoing through Rev's head.

Rev gets shaking the dirt out of his hair, revealing the bright white color "shut up" Rev says in a faint voice.

Rev walks his way back to the fields. That night like many nights before Rev attempts to make his great escape waiting for everyone to fall asleep he makes a run for it his steps sounding weight less than he turns the corner to the hall that leads to the main gate the guard is standing there waiting for him as he has done many nights before.

"lets get this over with," the guard says as he stands up

Rev runs as fast as he can barely avoid the guard's grab which in its self, catches the guard by surprise. Rev's eyes light up as he makes it to the gate, seeing the moon,

but in an instant the guard appeared in front of him saying " you should know by now not to hesitate"

The guard's hand extends but Rev sees that he is clearly too far away, but then he sees it. His eyes dial in as he looks at the Elf guard. He sees small bits of light around the core of the elf's body and runs up his chest and through his arm and gathers in his hand. Rev is like a dear in headlights, stunned as he looks straight into his death. A strong blast of wind hits Rev, sending him flying back into the hall. The guard walks over and picks him up by his hood, and drags him back to his bed. Rev is woken up the next day by the loud bell signaling it was time to get to work. As he gets up, his head is dizzy and body is heavy. All he can think about is of what he saw last night.

A human man comes over and yells at him "hurry up slacker, am not getting punished because you're a little tired"

Rev glares at him. "Go die," he say

The human picks him up "you'll be the one dying if you don't shut your mouth red eyes"

Rev just stares into the man's eyes, not his normal cold dead stare. No, He stares at him as if he's looking for something.

"what are you staring at red eyes" the man says as he lowers Rev. "freak" the man says as he walks away.

Rev sighs, questioning if what he saw last night was even real. He starts walking over to the field and feels the bright sun beam down on him, which in a weird way makes him feel comforted. Rev works the day away and, like usual, dinner came around and the humans tried to steal Rev's food away. When the usual suspect came walking his way Rev raised his hand at them mimicking what he saw the guard do his eyes stared right into their souls the men stopped in their path.

one of them whispered, "he's not going to...there's no way right"

The leader of the group stepped up. "No, elf or not, he's just a kid"

he walks over to Rev grabbing his arm " what's wrong red eyes don't tell me you think you can actually use that power"

Rev's eyes light up. "So you've seen it too?"

"of course you idiot, you're not the only one that's tried to escape. You know that elf guard used his power to stop 5 of us at the same time," the man said as he thought back to his younger days

Rev smiles and throws the food at him and escapes his grip as a result, causing the men to chase him around the room.

The guard hears the commotion. "not one peaceful day around here is there," he sighs and gets up to break up the fight

As he opens the door to the main room, he sees Rev running around as half the guys chase him. He then makes eye contact with the guard and heads his way.

"do it" Rev says then thinks to himself "show me your power I want to see it again"

Then it happens Rev sees that glow in the guard again coming from the same place and going to his chest then through his arm and noticed that there was more of the light gathered in his hand this time. In a flash a gust of wind fills the room, sending everyone flying...except Rev, this time he could see light change into something different, so he ducked out of the way this time. The dust settles and the guard sees Rev crouched down beside him.

"how did you," the guard says in a puzzled manner. "did you...no you couldn't have"

Rev looks up at him "that was crazy"

The guard shrugs Rev off, then says, "Dinners over. Get back to work"

The guys in the room get up "asshole" one of them whisper

They pick up the tables that were blasted on their side and walk back to the fields. That night Rev to no one's surprise tries to escape. He makes his usual moves, but this time his goal is to see more and more of the elf's power. This becomes more regular Rev pushing the guard more and more every time he tries to escape, he learns a little more each time.

  1 year later...

This is the night Rev has been preparing for, as he has been testing his strength in the field. He had first caught on after 5 months of watching the guard. He would look down at himself and focus, trying to picture himself like the bright sun in the sky radiating light. The fist time it worked it was only for a second be he could feel it the light in his stomach so warm. Now after months of practice and an effort to keep his newfound skill a secret, Rev has told himself this will be the last night he spends here. Rev waits till the sun goes down, then Rev's plan comes into action. He yells as loud as he can wake everyone up.

The human surrounded him. "Your dead this time, I swear"

"don't worry, this will be the last night you will ever see me," he Rev says

"is that so," one guy says.

They try to pick him up, but Rev is too fast. They quickly group into a fight. The guard enters the room and Rev hides. The guard then blasts the room.

"perfect" Rev thinks, as he ran toward the door

One of the most important things Rev learned in the past year is that the guard has a brief time between uses of this power. This means there is a small period after he caster his blast where Rev can run and won't have to deal with the guard's power. As planned, this is exactly as it goes. The guard is forced to chase after Rev as he easily makes it to the gate.

"Come on red eyes, give it up!" The guard yells.

Rev turns to face him as he looks down, feeling the light course through him

"My name is Rev, not red eyes." His voiced is muffled but still heard by the guard, who is dumbfounded by the comment.

Rev's eyes begin to glow like they never have before. He focuses on his hand as he sees light from all around him gather into his hand. The guard is calm and is still a bit away from Rev, walking a steady, confident pace. Rev can no longer keep it in his hand. He points his hand to the ground, palm open, like he had seen the guard do a thousand times. The night came to a dead silent for just a moment.

"did it-" in that moment Rev felt a force like never before sending him flying into the sky. He felt like he could touch the stars at that moment. He looks down, seeing he had made it over the gate. He prepared himself to land as he dived towards a tree. The guard was stunned.

  "what just happened"

Rev was gone, skin bruised and scratches, but he couldn't feel a bit of the pain in that moment. He felt like he was indestructible; he had finally escaped. A smile filled his face and his eyes looked up at the open forest in front of him as he ran and ran, clearing a path to an open field.

"am...am really free.. AM FREE!" he yelled into the night.
