Chapter Fifty-two: The Lie of Love
Under everyone's astonished gaze, I left the bar alone and wandered aimlessly onto the streets. It was probably rush hour, so there were hardly any people on the streets.
I was walking aimlessly on the street. Suddenly, I saw a girl and a boy quarreling, the girl seemed very angry, loudly scolding the boy, but the boy was gently pulling the girl's hand, saying something softly. However, the girl was still very angry, ignoring the boy, and forcefully shook off his hand, quickly walking towards the middle of the road. Suddenly, I saw a large bus heading straight for the girl, the boy loudly shouted at her, and she looked back in shock. Perhaps frightened out of her wits, she stood frozen, unable to move, staring as the car approached. I rushed over and grabbed hold of the girl, just in the nick of time, and we both safely returned to the side of the road.
The boy ran over excitedly and hugged the girl, who was already sobbing uncontrollably in his arms. It wasn't until then that I realized the boy was actually a member of the "Night" gang. He seemed to notice me staring at him, and he also looked up: "Cold-blooded Princess?"
"Ah!" I nodded and gave him a sweet smile in return.
The girl in his arms also heard us talking and raised her head. I stared at her in surprise, she was the girl I rescued from the leader of Qinglong Gang that day: "Is it you?"
"Are you... the Ice Princess?" The girl also exclaimed in surprise. I wonder why everyone likes to call me "Ice Princess", not "Fourth Young Miss". Am I really that cold-blooded?
My pouting mouth: "Am I really so heartless?"
"Hmph!"
"Hmph!"
They probably haven't seen me like this before, and they all burst out laughing.
I smiled sweetly: "You're laughing now! What's going on? Why were you arguing like that?"
"Ask him." The girl turned her face away unhappily.
"Cold-blooded princess, I...I..." The boy said with difficulty.
"What's wrong?" I said impatiently.
The boy scratched his head in embarrassment: "Why don't we sit down somewhere and talk about it!"
"Ah!" I nodded.
We then came to a coffee shop called "Warmth".
"Now can we talk?" I asked hastily as soon as I sat down.
"Actually, the thing is..." The boy hesitated before speaking: "My parents don't know I'm dating, so they've arranged for me to marry someone else. I didn't know about it until later. When I found out, I wanted to resolve it privately because the girl also said she didn't like me. For the sake of both sets of parents, we pretended to be a couple in front of them. Once her parents returned to their country, we would break up. But unexpectedly, Sakura saw us today, which is why there was that scene earlier."
"Are you saying he didn't listen to your explanation?" I asked knowingly.
They nodded in tacit agreement. Sakura said, "I'm mad at him not because of his fake girlfriend, but because he wasn't honest with me. Shouldn't two people be truthful to each other when they're together?" She glanced at the boy on purpose after finishing her sentence.
"Sorry, I don't want you to misunderstand!" The boy looked like a little kid who had done something wrong.
I shook my head helplessly: "You all love each other, why make such a fuss? If it wasn't for me just now, I think you'll both regret it for the rest of your lives."
"We know!" they said in perfect sync.
I nodded in satisfaction: "You can't be stubborn anymore, got it? And remember to invite me when you get married. I'll go back first." After that, I left.
I suddenly realized that loving someone sometimes means being overly cautious for their protection, but the purpose remains the same from start to finish: loving her/him.
