Prologue
"Why do you like me?"
She always loves to ask this question, from spring to summer, from autumn to winter. And in any season, his smile is as gentle as the sunlight filtering through the trees.
"Because I've liked you since we were young."
"Could it be... that you've never been in contact with other girls before? If you interacted with more girls, wouldn't you suddenly realize that the one you actually like isn't me?" She was worried to the point of frowning.
"He smiled: 'Okay. I'll give it a try when I have the chance.'"
She immediately became anxious, rushed over and pinched his neck: "You dare! If you dare to be with another girl, I'll bite you to death one mouthful at a time!"
He smiled and hugged her, burying his face in her warm fragrant neck: "I like it when you bite me. Will you bite me now?"
"Where did I bite you?"
He leaned on the white sofa, with a fresh and clean scent on his body, like soap mixed with the smell of pine trees. His thin lips curved into an elegant arc as he smiled: "My mouth is fine."
She batted her eyelashes, pounced forward, and bit his lips!
"It hurts!"
He groaned softly.
"Hey! You're a bit too slick for your own good!" She gazed at him with satisfaction, her eyes fixed on the faint white tooth marks left on his lips. "Consider it a little punishment."
He rubbed her fine hair: "Don't you like me this way? I'm afraid you think I'm dull."
She gazed at him, unable to help but burst into laughter like a blooming flower: "You seem to really, really like me, don't you?"
"Right."
"Why is that?" She was very worried. Because she thought she had many shortcomings, while he was excellent, and the two were not a well-matched pair.
"There are times when I find it strange too. You're willful, stubborn and careless, and often scold me, but...I just like you that way. Being with you, whether we're angry or happy, is always so much fun."
"Really?" She smiled secretly.
He held her in his arms and let her listen to his heartbeat. The strong and rhythmic pulse of the heart would not lie, it knew best how he felt about her.
Listening to his heartbeat, she slowly fell asleep.
Before falling asleep, she yawned and asked: "How long will you like me?"
"Forever."
"How far is forever?"
"Even if you no longer love me, even if you have forgotten me, even if I have disappeared from this world, I will still love you."
"Rubbish! You're no longer in this world, how can you still love me?"
"I'll go find an angel. Let it love you in my place." He gently patted her, making her sleeping posture more comfortable.
She murmured in his arms: "I will also love you forever..."
The night wind blows the curtains.
He patted her on the back while picking up the textbook from the tea table and helping her mark out the key sections to focus on.
She fell fast asleep.
"How long will you like me?"
"Forever."
