Chapter 166 — Leslys Tales (8)

  Lesly's Tales (8)

The international TV became a surprise for every involved party, essentially the Moonblue supercontinent. A brand-new president accused another of so many things, even reclaiming to the people of another country for doing nothing to stop said president. What's more, this was before the voting in Lymoca, which would pull votes one side or the other. This was… a bit too much!

It left the Lys feeling awkward. What was that man saying about them? Why was it their fault they choose a president? Moreover, what did it matter to Terka, a country that always kept its distance from Lymoca, unlike Endesa, Carnage, and even Cors?

Those were only some of the countries with relations with Lymoca. Every country had an embassy of Lymoca in their capital city, including the tiny Safe Haven City. Naturally, when this news was just transmitted, they flooded to every little corner of the world, even if not in the same gravity to Lymoca, or even the south.

More than anything, the Lys had one thing to say in response: Who the fuck you think you are to tell us what, when, and how!?

As for the president’s reaction… what reaction? It might be a bit racist, but it’s not humane for a person to bark back at such a dog.

Regardless of the differences between Lys, has the history of the world not shown that nowadays Lymoca isn’t a place where one’s feet can step down unto with malice, thinking they could ever leave it?

Even if Luis was at the same social step he was in the beginning of his second term, or even the first half overall, no Ly would nod and think that Terka’s president was legitimate. Not even a person of status. Who dares to speak of their country like that!?

As for the following events, after Terka’s president spoke of Lymoca, he continued a little more, explaining his future prospects with the geopolitics in the current world. Mentioning a few things more, he then left the stage with the Ters in Terka feeling a little out of place themselves.

What more of the Ly ambassador, who no longer clapped, and didn’t even seem to feel like one in the country, or welcomed, where he has lived for almost half a decade in peace and learned to love it.

… A day later, Lesly walked into the SCJ building. She wore a slightly more serious expression than she would have wanted to show before. It wasn’t on purpose. The situation with Terka was something, but it has been just a day, and NF has been pointed fingers in any place of the parliaments.

It was only the same kind of harassment, but with the opposition showing a much more abundant exertion into it. But things weren’t so simple. Word arrived from the shadows; the opposition was only distracting them in the parliament, doing things in the background.

They weren’t so important, but it was something to take notice of. For starters, the presidents of Lymoca’s Vanguard and National Scholars of Honor formed the coalition, the NCR, formally known as the National Civilian Resistance.

This was time ago, back when Lesly was barely starting her hunt to form her ‘political army’, going for Omar Preon. Now, they have had enough time to properly group themselves. There was movement from the NCR coalition, starting with their congressfolk speaking for the OCs like it was always the army and NG are the ones violating their humane for centuries.

That was mostly whatever, but people were being moved en masse. Lesly couldn’t use a few days to go under the radar of the attentive, scaredy cats of the opposition. She had to move, and thus, she came to the SCJ building after the news from Terka just yesterday, to make matters worse.

Lesly drew heads to follow her every move in the building, not specifically because of her beauty. This time, she wore a formal outfit, helped by Sona Heartez. Long gray-blue skirt, with a murky green jacket, and a purse of the same color, bubbly with a wrinkly pattern.

She walked straight into someone’s office, a Supreme Court Minister’s private office, Jennifer Paws’s.

“…!” Jennifer was just writing down something, with a couple of thick books on her desktop, which stood on a higher step 1.3 meters above the floor, with other desktops to her sides on lower steps. It was a quirky, all-so-highly design. She lifted her head to look at the person entering her office, not knowing if it was an attendant or the…

“Ah, vice president…” Jennifer calmly closed her books and covered her documents. Her young woman’s, slightly sweet voice sounded, causing a smile to form on Lesly’s lips. She didn’t walk ahead, which might have let her at least catch a glimpse of what books Jennifer was reading.

Regardless, after Jennifer covered her stuff, Lesly walked forward, with the Supreme Court Minister standing up and arranging her clothes before stepping down. Jennifer didn’t wear her ‘Supreme’ coat as she came down the steps a little awkwardly, walking down the small staircase attached to the wall, before extending her hand to Lesly.

“Supreme Court Minister Paws,” Lesly shook the pretty brown sand brunette’s hand. Then, with a moment of silence between the two, she smiled and said, “Are we in the same level?”

“Aren’t we? We Lys are always the same, no matter what, Lesly Rivera.” Jennifer Paws said after blinking. Her eyebrows knitted delicately, as if she couldn’t understand what other answer there would be.

Lesly’s breathtaking black eyes glinted with unknown traces, “Indeed, a little monster worthy of the high standards a Ly in your position should have. But are you really you?”

“Vice president,” Jennifer smiled and narrowed her eyes with ease a bit. “I received your notice, and the rushing request today. So, today, I’m glad to have you here. But you didn’t come here to be my new spiritual guide, did you?”

“Spiritual? I’m not qualified. Guide? That’s a bit too much considering the differences, enormous at that, in our fields of expertise. Wanna talk?” Lesly humorously spoke before gesturing her hand to the desk on one of the first steps in the room.

Jennifer blushed a bit. Her dimples caved in her cheeks, and her head lowered. She nodded meekly before grabbing one of the 3 chairs below the desk to sit beside Lesly, the vice president of Lymoca, and for 2 times in a row.

“What would you like to talk about, vice president?” Jennifer Paws sat properly, placing her joined hands above her knee. Lesly sat with her legs together on the side before patting Jennifer’s wrists. “If you keep calling me that, I’ll feel unwelcome. ‘Lesly’ would be just right.”

“Alright! Sure, of course, ma’am, hehehe.” Jennifer’s eyes widened, and her lips parted when she heard those words. Quickly processing them, she smiled and blushed a little before greeting Lesly with her hands cupped in the air. “Lesly, to what do I owe the pleasure?”

Lesly smiled, but not as brightly as Jennifer Paws. Accommodating her hair, Lesly cupped Jennifer’s hands, “You know everyone recognizes you as one of the most amazing young people in the world, yes? Neither I nor the President think differently— we just didn’t dare step any close to here. We never gave you recognition, did we? But you have it. You always had.”

“If only there weren’t restrictions on the celebrations, we could make a long list to celebrate the talented young fellows in the country. You would be one of those to lead not only this generation, but throughout Lymoca’s history, too.” Lesly’s words made the younger woman’s eyes shine and dart from side to side.

“Really? Together with Clara Metelti?” Jennifer felt a little excited, slightly imagining it. Lesly nodded. Jennifer smiled before looking at her intently, “You too, Lesly?”

“Uh…” Lesly jolted her head backwards before sending her eyes upturned with a tilt of her head. “Now that you mention it, yeah, right. I should also be there. Oh? Luis would be, too… But that might also include Fox.”

“Do you fear him also, miss vice president?” Jennifer frowned a little, asking with a small voice. Lesly looked at her reaction and tilted her head in wonderment.

“Why are you so afraid of him?” Lesly cupped her hands again. Jennifer leaned her head to the side and bit her lower lip, pulling some skin off without pain. “It’s not that I hate him or that he has done something to us. But he is, you know, and we… did… those things to him…”

“Fox isn’t a bad boy… well, he is,” Lesly smiled and explained. Seeing Jennifer look at her with widened eyes, she hurriedly added, “Not in that way! Phew… Fox is but another person, another Ly. We are all just people. I assure you, even if you yell at him to eat shit, you’d be just like a supermodel walking past him, brushing your shoulder with him, yet getting all ignored.”

“Hehe, really?” Jennifer frowned curiously, almost laughing with an adorable, twisted smile. Lesly nodded, “Yes. He’s done more protecting than anything. He even saved my life first thing after seeing me. You wanna know a secret? I think he’s… kind!”

“Pfft!” Jennifer felt it was ridiculous. How could that be a secret? Can something like that be important? Regardless, she threw it to the back of her head and commented, “Vanessa seems to think differently from me and the other Supreme Court Ministers too, you know? She usually allows the others to badmouth anyone, but she rolls her eyes whenever they talk about him. Now that I think about it, he’s strangely kind acute, isn’t he?”

“Huh…” Lesly narrowed her eyes. For something like this, it was impossible for Jennifer Paws to ‘slip up’. At best, it was something the Supreme Justice Minister didn’t mind others knowing. A distraction, or a sort of message? That would be left for later, as something caught Lesly’s attention, making her lower her chin and lift her right eyebrow. “Don’t tell me you like him now?”

“Bwaaaah~! Nah!” Jennifer shut her eyes tight, shaking her hands in crisscrossed motions in and out. “I just think he surely could be much different to what others talk about. There must be a reason why Vanessa doesn’t fear him. I have seen her get scared with cars nearly driving into the same sidewalk as hers several meters away, so.”

“Mn, okay. Enough about that. Do you want to know something I found fascinating before coming here?” Lesly tapped Jennifer’s wrist a few times in a row. Jennifer blinked before asking, “What was it?”

“Is it.” Lesly corrected her. “You worked so hard at first, didn’t you? You were seen with luck, but nobody helped you get so high. Even Vanessa knew nothing about you, and she’s the only one who spends time with you the most, right?”

“Y- yeah…” Jennifer blinked, feeling weird Lesly knew so much, even though it seemed so little. Because it meant a lot to her. Lesly smiled thinly, “Then let me tell you what I went through to start and then arrive where I am today, and where I’m going ‘later’.”

“Oooh…” Feeling an incoming storytelling, Jennifer widened her eyes and readied her ears. What’s more, it came from a woman like Lesly Rivera. What else could she ask for?

… Days passed. 3 days later. Lesly visited Jennifer, as usual. During this time, Jennifer Paws kept her door opened for the first time in her life, waiting for Lesly, letting many civil workers know the interiors of the strangely built room. But today was a bit different, which Jennifer could somewhat discern.

Lesly checked the time after chatting for nearly 3 hours, exchanging their experiences. After all, their age difference went a bit over a decade, there was much where exchanging experiences could mean something and be beneficial to the other.

“Look at the time, I have to leave soon, Jenny.” Lesly breathed out and caressed the younger woman’s cheek, making her smile softly. Jennifer, or Jenny, then grimaced with her lips. “Will you no longer attend our little meetings, then?”

“I’m afraid so, but I have something for you,” Lesly said with a smile before walking to the door. She gave Jenny another look with teasing eyes, making Jenny feel a bit more confused, before opening the door. On the doorstep was a massive beauty with massive features. She looked into the room with a light smile, already flashing numerous thoughts in her stubborn eyes.

Creamy brown skin, smooth chestnut hair, and gray-black eyes. She was the tall, large-assets lover Fox once had, Sona Heartez. Lesly grabbed her hand and brought her to Jenny, who blinked at the newcomer to their secret girly den.

“Be careful with this specimen, she’s my greatest tool to bring my every day to a most recognizable mess, even with Luis’s mistakes in his first term. Oh, but be careful of debating with her, she won’t let it be unless her heart feels it’s right. Just don’t fall in love, okay? She’s aiming for a husband and all those things.”

“Hi~!” Sona put her lovely smile on and charmed the innocent Jennifer, shaking her hands, who pouted, trying to hide a greeting little smile. Sona looked at Lesly and winked, “You can leave her to me, don’t worry, I’ll wring her dry and she’ll reveal us all the dirty secrets in the judicial branch.”

“Oh, come on, stop teasing me, you big bad sisters.” Jenny cutely reclaimed before offering Sona a seat. Then, she faced Lesly, “I am also looking for a husband, vice president, you should behave more appropriately. Not Fox, or someone like him. I’d only like someone like the president…”

“Hey! Don’t touch that!” Lesly gave Jenny a playful slap on her shoulder, making the latter look at her with realizing, puckish eyes. Lesly smirked, “Hide those cute lips of yours, or I’ll command Sona to really wring you out.”

“Ey?” Jenny felt confused. Sona was also taken aback, but she narrowed her eyes and eyed the innocent deer before her.

Lesly smiled big time before waving it off, heading to the exit, “This is my stop, Jenny. Don’t be shy with Sona. She’s my greatest partner when I need help and think things through without bothering others. Feel free to use her to check on yourself. You’re just young after all, while it might be noble, if it is, to work for the country— you are young only once.”

“Mn!” Jenny nodded, waving little goodbyes with her hand to Lesly before watching her disappear. She then turned to Sona and pouted. Sona lifted an eyebrow, “Don’t worry, I won’t try replacing your star in your heart. My place is here.”

Sona cutely poked Jennifer Paw’s glabella. Then, Sona took a bunch of books. She wore her usual formal, strict uniform, which always loses some seriousness with her bulging chest, but her collection of spiritual and emotional ‘guidance’ took and gave her more authenticity. Jenny looked with widened eyes, astounded and intrigued.

Looking up at Sona, she saw a blatant smile on those deliciously beautiful lips and mature face.

… Outside, Lesly walked through the hallway, having just exited Jennifer Paws’s office. Walking a little ahead, she suddenly set her eyes on the brown man with black, short-trimmed hair. A little taller than her short stature.

Lesly looked at him with what seemed like a ‘teasing’ glint in her eyes before spitting a few words to make his eyebrows jump and remain up there. “Hey, won’t you wait your turn?”

Javier Laran was stunned. He didn’t even hear her heels behind him, even though she walked with such notable power in every step. It continued for a while before he sighed, turning around. Thinking a bit, he decided it might be better to keep this out of Vanessa’s knowledge for now.

… The same afternoon, in the lower chamber, the Chamber of Deputies. Lesly walked with uncaring casualness. She held a briefcase in her hand as she moved directly into the assembly, which was just unoccupied.

Lesly was immediately spotted by the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Benito Metelti. She smiled, walking past some people, even those of mild interest to her. Arriving at the presidency’s stands, Lesly placed her chin on the edge of his desk and looked up with puppy eyes.

“Have you heard of me going around, reaching my hands into your daughter’s head and… ahem, Sebastián Lara.” Said Lesly, nearly slipping up unnecessary information. But looking at Benito, she felt it was unnecessary, those green, dull eyes were those of a father, not of the President of the Chamber of Deputies.

“Is that so? How did you convince her? Oh, wait. You didn’t, miss Rivera. You are about to, though.” Benito Metelti said with some small glasses nearly hanging from off the tip of his nose. He was a white man with already growing, white hair. He did have a thick, curly white beard. He was a tall person, and other than his intellectual qualities, he is known for being compassionate.

“Am I? Good to know, here I was growing all white despite being a middle-aged person still. Phew, phew, uncle.” Lesly said, thinly smiling from ear to ear. Benito shook his head, moving papers on his desk, waiting for her to try her best to do that to him, too. Lesly didn’t waste more time showing her charm, “Hey, care to support me and my National Front from now on? It’s time, oldie. Even that old man might be thinking wildly about it. Make an example, you know how much he admires you.”

“And you know how jealous it makes me to remember who got you first, you bratty chick. Yet, you still went to him first, letting half the congress know about it. I also know that as soon as I answer, you’ll leave my old bones here to rot in my second house.” Benito dropped his papers but didn’t move his fingers away from pinching them in place.

“Then you should know this is important now. Uncle, we are going all out. It’s time to show them,” Lesly said, showering him with deadly serious, still breathtaking black eyes. Benito looked at this daughterly figure. He sighed, 3 parts soft and 7 parts heavy. He took her left hand and cupped it after letting go of his papers. “You be careful out there. Hear me?”

“I am.” Lesly shook her head, returning the gesture, covering one of his hands with her right hand. “You don’t have to worry about me. You won’t need to of any of us in the near future. Nothing like that will ever happen again.”

“…” Benito felt trapped in those eyes. He saw things that weren’t there. Although this lass was very hardworking and outright clever since he knew of her, nothing to do with her learning, but her nature instead, she was never much of a fighting type of lass. He was even a little scared from looking at her; of those eyes.

“You still need to protect yourself,” Benito playfully looked left and right, as if afraid someone would hear. This was his playfulness, but he hid it well even now, making Lesly all serious. Benito solemnly echoed, “I won’t tell anyone you want to bring the president to bed.”

“…” Lesly was slightly taken away, so she just looked at this fatherly figure like the day just turned gray, and her mind was erased. Benito felt awkward, “Ahem. I just wanted to let you know you have my support. Besides, your… she would’ve loved to learn about this, if she didn’t when she still worked with you.”

“Thanks uncle… I also know she would’ve loved to see this old, sexy stuff all over your face.” Lesly smiled, pinching the white beard a bit. Benito fell silent, looking down and appearing a little silly. “Well, are you going to invite me to at least tea or a meal?”

“Oh, yeah? Uhuh, well. So, what’dya say?” Lesly nodded like a chicken pecking on a bit of rice, looking up at him with big eyes. Benito soundlessly sighed, delicately rubbed his lacrimals, and finally replied. “Yes, I will.”

“Good. Thank you. Goodbye~!” Without a moment of hesitation, Lesly picked herself up, bringing her chin off the desk and turning to walk away. Benito watched, shaking his head and grimacing with small pouts here and there, always changing and moving.

… Lesly walked towards the exit, smiling like the sweetest girl in the world. But she was a grown woman, the vice president of the most well-related nation abroad. Who else could say they have an embassy in most countries? Let alone in all of them. She had no time to feel contented, much less giddy.

That is why, when she happened to see an important back from afar with white hair above, her breathtaking black eyes widened. And so, she rushed to that back, calling out a little when passing by a group of neutral deputies who were just coming out of a small meeting, it seemed.

“Wait, Senator! Please? Please! Senator Feks, please! I will continue to chase you, sir!…”

Her pupils contracted, hurrying to the person who slowed down and eventually stopped, with her feet bringing her just a few meters behind him. Lesly called out before the old man turned around, looking at her without intention, “Senator Gracial Feks! A word!”

She didn’t request, opting for a direct approach. Her slightly disheveled hair and sweat might not be a good image for this approach, however. But she didn’t care and went for it.

The senator, Gracial Feks, sent his black almond eyes like an eagle would to prey, sharp and secretly predatory. He is a white old man with white hair all over his head. A tall, elderly man with a small goatee.

“I have been meaning to meet-” Lesly spoke softly, shaking her head, all gesturing to her hard work on the situation, and what it meant to her. But Gracial Feks interrupted her.

“Is there a reason why you, someone like you, would be yelling at me from the end of the hallway? Do you see not that this is a place of respect?” Gracial Feks bent his back, looking at Lesly with upturned eyes so obnoxiously. “I don’t think you’re conscious of where you are, are you now?”

Aggressively nodding his head, he persevered before turning around, “Well, look. I’d be glad to see what that mouth can do to talk of important business. Not sure if it can say anything that is out of what is already flowing around everywhere one looks, and to link all of that with the president of the nation no less. I simply don’t fathom, won’t even try, to see where a scandal like this goes. It’s a matter of time, I believe. Now, if you really have something to say, woman, go to the pair you already investigated. They will brief your spouting for me, and I’ll be grateful to them, being grateful to you for helping. I have things to do, excuse me!”

He left in the same manner she approached him, even using the same tone in his voice. Lesly was left behind, looking with wide eyes, a pale face, growing slightly breathless, and visibly unwell. The sweat on her temples and forehead continued to run down, tickling amidst her long black hair as she gulped down with difficulty.
