Maria only glanced at the quest window before quickly dismissing it as she passed through the portal. When she exited the portal, she looked around and noticed that she had arrived on an unfamiliar planet. The portal that she had used to travel to this place quickly closed behind her and the last thing Maria saw was Mobius and his soldiers locking down Paimon in place as they used multiple magic chains to hold him down.
She gritted her teeth in anger when she saw this scene just as the portal closed, she let loose an ear-piercing screech that traveled through the portal and into the ears of Mobius and everyone else that were in Enoch City.
*DING*
Maria quickly dismissed the skill window before turning around and looking up into the air. The planet Paimon had sent her to was in a horrible state so she was looking up at a grey and clouded sky of a dying world. She scanned the area and noticed that there was no living organism around her.
“This planet is either dying or it’s still developing. Anyway, why would Paimon send me here? Unless he had no control over where the portal would leave me or he had no time to input any coordinates…”
With literally nothing around her, Maria didn’t know what to do before remembering that Paimon said she could summon Death to her side at any time since she was the god’s champion.
“Death? Are you there?” Maria called out.
Almost immediately, her surroundings turned cold and dark as a dark portal appeared above her and Death’s Incarnation appeared through it.
“My Champion, this is the first time you’ve called for me. Do you need anything? Speak, and I will grant it.”
“Oh...so it’s true...darn it…”
Maria smacked her head a few times because she didn’t know about such a simple thing. If she had known about this a long while ago, she wouldn’t have had to go back to Eur and bother her mentor which put him into his current predicament of being imprisoned in the Ziggurat.
“Death, I want you to bring my mentor, The Archmage of the North, Paimon, to this planet.”
“...Champion, that is not something that I am currently capable of doing.”
“What? Why?!”
“The individual you are speaking of has been imprisoned in Planet Eur’s Ziggurat. It is impossible for me to teleport the individual you are seeking out of there without breaking the laws of the gods.”
“Tch…”
“However, I can give you the method to infiltrate into the Ziggurat and bring him out with you.”

“Really? Then let’s do that!”
Death’s Incarnation gave her hope but soon dampened it with a shake of his head as he said, “With your current level of power, you will not survive in the Ziggurat.”
“Eh? Oh…”
“Let us change that.”
“Hm?”
The incarnation of her patron god that stood in front of her raised a finger and tapped it onto Maria’s forehead.
*DING*
“What’s this?”
This was the normal menu that every player in Universe Tales would see when they received their class advancement options from their instructors. Universe Tales didn’t dictate the path that a player would take when they performed their class advancement. Instead, the system would calculate the players’ achievements and playstyle prior to them taking the class advancement quest to generate the suitable class route the player could take.
Of course, there was still the generic path that was also an option but most of the players that had class advanced would always pick the generated path instead since it was more suitable for them. Normally, only one path would be generated but after the system finished calculating Maria’s achievements and playstyle, which had taken longer than normal players, 4 class advancement options were presented to her.
*DING*
“O-Oh...there’s quite a lot that I can pick from…” Maria mumbled to herself as she tapped on the first option of the four readily available for her.
“Eh? Serving my god? Hmph, I serve no one but myself! This is a definite [NO]!”
When she read through the description of the first option, she simply said no only because it said that she had successfully served her god. She didn’t like the sound of it so she immediately tossed it out of the window. It was the first option so it was the generic route. She returned back to the previous screen and tapped on the second option.
“...It still has something to do with Death so let’s not.”
Death’s Incarnation heard her words and seemingly showed a depressed look on his face.
“Okay, next one.”
“Oh, now this sounds promising!” Maria exclaimed. It was too bad that she couldn’t see the skill tree of any of these class advancement options. She might find something good from the previous ones she had seen already that would maybe change her mind but just from the description alone, the previous 2 were greatly lacking compared to the third option. Now, it was finally time to inspect the last one and she had a good feeling about this path.
