Chapter 130: It’s Time to End It All!
The trial was over!
Although the Free World had no system notifications, Alex could clearly feel the pletion of his trial. After his "epiphany," everythi different.
Previously, Alex was like a bird trapped in a cage. No matter how much he flew, he would always hit the bars. Now, he was s freely in the open sky, uricted, able to go wherever he pleased. Whether it was enjoying a show on the East Afri savannah or sipping coffee on Kilimanjaro, the choice was his.
Not only that, after breaking through this barrier, Alex finally uood the so-called "world sciousness" he had been sensing.
In truth, it wasn’t world sciousness at all—it was his own "self-awareness"!
Put simply, when fag Teppei Houjou, Alex indeed wao kill him. However, knowing Teppei was a key figure driving the plot, Alex instinctively held back, fearing that Teppei’s death would cause the storylio colpse. A broken plot would leave Alex fumbling in the dark.
This hesitation aion were amplified by the world itself, leading Alex to falsely believe that it wasn’t his owaopping him, but the world actively intervening. Iy, the world opped Alex from doing anything. The only obstacle was himself.
Additionally, Alex’s over-familiarity with the world worked against him. The abundance of information he possessed caused paranoia—one moment suspeg he had Hinamizawa Syndrome, the suspeg others were ied. But all of it was merely a fabrication of his imagination, not reality.
Now, however, none of this mattered to Alex anymore.
“Crash—Bang!”
“An act!”
“Someone help!”
At a chaotiterse, a yellow-haired man was being carried into an ambunce. Watg this se unfold, Alex smiled faintly and grabbed a soda bottle from a nearby ter.
Just moments ago, he had cast "Luck Suppression" on Teppei Houjou and silently observed as Teppei tripped over his ow on the road. A speeding truck hit him, sending him flying before he tumbled down a set of stairs. Alex even saw clearly how Teppei’s neck had an intimate enter with the edge of a step.
Now, acc to the emergency responders, even if Teppei survived, he would likely be a paralyzed vegetable.
To Alex, this was an acceptable oute.
But Teppei was only a small fry. Alex had his eyes on a much bigger fish.
As Alex finished his soda, he spotted a man in a gree stepping out from the crowd. It was her than Jirou Tomitake, the supposed "wild bird photographer" who was often seen with Miyo Takano.
Iy, Jirou Tomitake was the liaisoween the Irie Institute and the "Tokyanization.
Frankly speaking, the Higurashi world was full of amateurs, and this liaison was no exception. Supposedly a representative from headquarters, Tomitake got so infatuated with Miyo Takano that he couldn’t even remember his own er sleeping with her. Eventually, she killed him.
Alex didn’t think highly of the man. A hopeless romantic, eveakano’s schemes failed, Tomitake wao help her escape punishment. Suegligence of duty deserved sequences.
With this thought, Alex casually tossed away the soda bottle and approached Jirou Tomitake.
“Hello, Mr. Tomitake.”
“Huh? You are…”
Hearing someone call his omitake looked up, momentarily fused, befnition dawned on him.
“Ah, Mr. Alex. What a surprise to see you in Shionogu…”
“Indeed, I wasn’t expeg to see you here either. Care to join me for a meal?”
“Well…”
Tomitake hesitated at Alex’s invitation. In truth, seeing Alex made him feel awkward.
Tomitake khat Miyo Takano had sent the Mountain Dog unit to attack Alex, only for them to be beaten down. He was curious why Takano had targeted Alex in the first pce. Takano cimed it was due to Alex having a Hinamizawa Syndrome outbreak, but the aftermath didn’t align with her expnation.
Though many Mountain Dog members were injured, none had died, and Alex’s behavior afterward was pletely normal. This raised suspis for Tomitake. However, since he was still in the midst of his iigation, he cked crete evidence.
"Actually, I retly took some bird photos..."
"It’s nothing, just a casual meal… By the way, I retly found an amazing ramen shop, but I don’t remember its location. Could you help me figure it out?"
As Alex spoke, he pulled a card from his pocket and ha to Tomitake. Hesitant, Tomitake took the card, g it, and froze. His expression shifted to one of shod fear. Almost instinctively, he lowered his camera and raised his right hand toward Alex.
"You…"
"No need for formalities. The Mountain Dogs might be watg."
Seeing Tomitake’s rea, Alex sneered. Hearing this, Tomitake quickly lowered his hand and gnervously around.
"Inviting me for a bowl of ramen isn’t too much to ask, right? I’m sure you know a good pce."
"Of course, Mr. Alex."
This time, Tomitake’s tooward Alex was noticeably more respectful.
"Please follow me. I know a ramen shop with excellent food. I think you’ll enjoy it."
Tomitake’s ge in attitude was uandable. The card Alex had handed him wasn’t a restaurant loyalty card but aification badge, proving Alex resentative from "Tokyo."
Yes, while Alex’s public identity in the Higurashi world was that of Chie Rumiko’s cssmate, he secretly also represehe shadowy "Tokyanization.
If Tomitake was merely an advance scout, Alex was effectively a special envoy—someone far higher in rank. Their statuses were worlds apart.
Initially, Alex had ehis world for the trial. Now, havihrough the truth of this world, he decided it was time to end the game.
But before that, he still had unfinished business with Miyo Takano. Alex had loathed her character since pying the game, and now, not retaliating against her would leave him feeling unsatisfied.
"Miyo Takano embezzled funds, privately bought off the Mountain Dog unit, and even tried to cover up her as by targeting me… Holy, I didn’t expect to enter something like this during my time in Hinamizawa. The Irie Institute’s presehin ‘Tokyo’ was already troversial. Now, the higher-ups won’t let this tinue!"
While eating ramen, Alex casually expio Tomitake. He revealed how Miyo Takano had secretly funneled rge sums of moo bribe the Mountain Dogs, using them to carry out her pns in Hinamizawa. Alex didn’t o provide evidence—his identity was evidenough.
"Y-yes, sir…"
Tomitake’s forehead was drenched i. The ramen before him was delicious, but he had no appetite. If Alex’s words were true, then Miyo Takano had been deceiving him for a long time. As the liaison, his failure to notice this was, at the very least, gross negligence.
"Furthermore, I’ve received intelligehat Miyo Takano intends to use her resear ‘Hinamizawa Syndrome’ as a front to develop biological ons! This is a serious offense. If exposed, ‘Tokyo’ would be in a precarious position!"
Dealing with Miyo Takano wasn’t difficult, but cealing the truth about Hinamizawa Syndrome was the real challenge.
Alex didn’t want Rika Furude and the others to end up as experimental subjects, but the disease wasn’t easy to cure. His earlier psychological arguments were merely to provoke Miyo Takano and attract her hostility.
Whether Hinamizawa Syndrome truly existed remained a mystery. Moreover, the theory that the death of the "queen carrier" would cause mass hysteria in Hinamizawa had never been proven.
For example, in one of the alterimelines, Rika Furude was killed, yet Rena Ryuugu survived and lived for over 20 years without going berserk or dying. This disproved Takano’s cim that the death of the queen carrier would result iire vilge’s colpse.
If Alex framed Takano’s as as researto parasitiipution for biological warfare, it could attrawatention. Eliminating Takano might only result in someone else stepping in to take over.
Instead, portraying it as a guise for bio-on research ducted uhe pretense of Hinamizawa Syndrome was far more effective.
This was akin to the differeween selling both mb and mb offal versus hanging a mb’s head and selling dog meat. It was all about perception.
"Language truly is an art," Alex thought, smirking. A slight rephrasing ged everything.
"I demand that you immediately notify ‘Tokyo’ to deploy the Hound unit to the Irie Institute. Arrest Miyo Takano and her aplices in one sweep!"
