Chapter 120: Your Tactic Gets No Points
“This festival was so much fun!”
Sitting in the car, Shion stretched her arms out with a satisfied smile.
“Joining the Watanagashi Festival on a whim was defihe right decision. Hmm, should I trao my sister’s school? It seems like it’d be so much fun… Ah! Oh no!”
Suddenly, Shion cpped her hands as if she had just remembered something important.
“I fot the message my sister asked me to give Mr. Alex... Ugh, he probably hasn’t gone far yet. Kasai, turn the car around!”
“Yes,” the man in the driver’s seat, dressed in a suit, replied promptly. He turhe steering wheel sharply, reversing their dire and heading back the way they came.
“Hmm?”
As the car returo where they had left earlier, Shion could still see Alex in the distance. But it didn’t take her long to notiething was wrong.
A van was sloroag Alex from behind.
Here we go.
Listening to the growing hum of the engine behind him, Alex sneered. He kly who was ing.
If his memory served him right, these were Miyo Takano’s “Mountain Dog Unit.” On the surface, they acted as security personnel for Takano’s research facility, supposedly tasked with proteg Rika Furude.
Iy, they were nothing more than Takano’s pdogs, instrumental in the horrifying acts of abdug Rika and massag the entire Hinamizawa vilge, killing over 2,000 residents.
And now... they had set their sights on him?
Bold move.
With a screech, the van came to a sudden halt beside Alex. The doors flew open, and two men in work uniforms leapt out, lunging at Alex from behind in an attempt to subdue him.
But as they closed in, Alex dodged their attack with a swift sidestep, his expression turning serious as he gred at them.
“Who are you? Why are you attag me?”
Missed?
The Mountain Dogs were visibly surprised to see their target evade their ambush so effortlessly.
Acc to their ihis young man was just a na?ve, retly returudent from abroad.
They didn’t know why their superior had ordered them to capture him, but for seasoned special forces members like themselves, kidnapping a civilian should have been a piece of cake.
But this… this isn’t what we signed up for!
“Get him!”
Despite their surprise, the Mountain Dogs were professionals. They exged gnces and immediately charged again.
Perfect timing.
Seeing them rush fain, Alex grinned inwardly. He had been waiting for an opportunity to deal with this lot, and now they were delivering themselves to him on a silver ptter.
If they wanted a beating, who was he to deny them?
“Hyaah!”
As one of the men lu him, Alex spun around and delivered a heavy punch to his face, sending him flying.
The sean froze for a moment, stunned by the dispy, but before he could react, Alex was already in front of him.
With a swift kick, Alex nded a direct hit between the man’s legs.
“AAAAARRRGGHHHH!”
The ma out a high-pitched scream, his face twisting into a grotesque expression of pain as he colpsed, clutg himself tightly.
But Alex wasn’t done. With a uppercut, he khe man out cold, mercifully ending his suffering—for now.
“What the hell is going on?!”
The remaining Mountain Dogs in the van were dumbfounded.
Two of their rades had been taken out in seds by a supposed civilian.
The sight of one of their colleagues writhing on the ground with a torted expression and tightly csped hands made the rest feel an unfortable tightness in their own legs.
Wasn’t this supposed to be a simple mission?
“You didn’t have to go that far!” one of them muttered under his breath.
“Everyotack!”
Regaining their posure, the remaining Mountain Dogs jumped out of the van and surrounded Alex.
Their previous casual demeanor was gone, repced by a cautious determination.
“Let’s see how you handle all of us!”
vihat numbers would give them the upper hand, the Mountain Dogs charged in unison.
From their perspective, they had the advahey had ons—stun batons and handguns—while Alex appeared to be unarmed.
Surely, even if he was strong, he wouldn’t stand a ce against all of them bined.
But the moment they ehey realized h they were.
Alex was not only incredibly strong but also unnervingly quick.
No matter how they attacked, Alex dodged with uny ease, slipping through their formations like a slippery eel.
And then there was his strength.
Each time he tered, his blows nded with such force that the Mountain Dogs couldn’t believe they were up against someohout formal bat training—or so they thought.
The gap between what they had been told and what they were experieng was staggering.
This was no ordinary young man. He was a nightmare.
The Mountain Dogs initially thought they could subdue the young man easily. However, as two of them grabbed Alex’s shoulders, he suddenly leaned back with force, smming into them with immense impact.
The two unfortunate me as if a massive truck had hit them, letting out cries of pain as they were thrown backward into the fields lining the road.
Without hesitation, Alex extended both arms, ched his fists, and nded powerful punches owo men in front of him. The blows hit their chests with precision, leaving them no ce to react. With groans of pain, they crumpled to the ground, motionless.
"No... no way!"
Seeing their rades taken down in mere seds, the remaining two members hesitated, fear evident on their faces. They exged a nervous gnce before turning to flee toward their van.
But they had barely turned around when they felt firm hands grab their heads.
The moment, their world spun violently, and their vision blurred. With a dull thud, both men colpsed to the ground, unscious.
"Pathetic."
Dusting off his hands, Alex looked down at the incapacitated Mountain Dogs with a faint smirk.
He had a good idea why they were after him. Iimeline of the Higurashi world, the Watanagashi Festival was always apanied by oh and one disappearaypically, Jirou Tomitake, the undercover observer disguised as a photographer, would be the one killed, and Miyo Takano would stage her disappearance.
It seemed Takano wao repitake’s role iimelih him this time.
Wrong move.
"Mr. Alex…!"
A panicked voice called out from the distance. Alex looked up to see Shion Sonozaki running toward him, apanied by a man in a bck suit following closely behind.
"You’re okay! What happened here? Who are these people?"
Shion’s eyes widened in shock as she took in the sight of the unsen scattered on the ground.
She had noticed the van approag Alex earlier a uneasy, suspeg something was amiss. But what happened had exceeded her imagination.
To her shock, the men who exited the van had attempted to assault Alex.
What was going on?
Initially, Shion had inteo let her bodyguard, Kasai, step in to help. However, by the time they arrived, Alex had already taken care of the attackers with ease.
"I ’t believe it, Mr. Alex, you’re amazing!"
Shion’s expression shifted as she looked at Alex, her tone now filled with admiration.
Although she had heard from her family’s bodyguards that Alex was dangerous aremely strong, witnessing it firsthand was another matter entirely.
The men Alex had taken down weren’t ordinary civilians; they were all strong, well-built individuals. Even Kasai, an experienced bodyguard, would have struggled to handle so many oppos barehanded. Yet Alex had dealt with them so effortlessly.
But her amazement quickly turned into curiosity.
"Who are these people?"
"I have no idea."
Alex shrugged at Shion’s question.
"I was just walking along the road, and these guys decided to pick a fight. Judging by their as, it looks like they were trying to kidnap me."
He paused, a faint smile pying on his lips.
"e to think of it, today is the Watanagashi Festival. Could it be they wanted me to experience Oyashiro-sama’s curse firsthand?"
"What?!"
Shion’s expression shifted dramatically. She stared at the unsen with a mixture of suspi and unease. After a brief hesitation, she turned back to Alex.
"What are you going to do about this, Mr. Alex?"
"It’s simple," Alex replied without hesitation.
"I’m going to call the police."
