Chapter 52

  Kill…Loka

“Ein…why did you choose me?” Rev whispers to himself.

  Kill Loka

“There’s no other way.” Rev says.

  KILL LOKA

Rev gets up from the blood covered ground. “He needs to be stopped.”

  KILL LOKA!

Dust goes flying out around him. “He has to die!” Rev yells.

As the dust settles, so does his mind. “But…I can’t. Am not strong enough.” Rev says.

At that moment, a strong gust of wind blows through the ruined city. Rev looks up at the distant mountains. “The palace…The first time I can remember seeing his face…Loka.” Rev thinks and without a second thought, he blasts off towards the mountain palace. As he makes his way to there, he spreads his source out to the trees belows and absorbs the source in them.

  1 day later

Rev has made it to and up the mountainside. His body is tired from the excessive strain the speed skill puts on the body. If not for that Rev would have made it there in less than half the time. Rev places his hand on the mountainside and uses his eyes to guide his source through the stone. The mountain opens and Rev walks up the steps to the first gate. The guard looks down at Rev in horror.

  “Hey Phin…” Rev casually says.

“You have to leave right now,” Phil tells Rev.

Rev sighs “Did they really banish me after I left? Hey no one else was going to use the hell scape ring.” Rev tells Phin.

“That’s not it. A um, a dangerous man is in there right now. If he sees you, he’ll kill you without question. Am really sorry but you must leave right away,” Phin tries to explain.

“And you're out here while he takes control of the palace? I find that hard to believe,” Rev says and before Phin can respond, Rev dashes past him and pushes the doors open with the help of source.

“Where? hey wait” Phin says, trying to grab at Rev’s cloak.

As Phin’s hand gets closer to Rev, it’s as if the surrounding air thickens into a solid wall that his hand can not move past. Rev glares back at Phin and genitally wind blast him back.

“Please, am just trying to…” Phin stops.

“what are you trying to do Phin? has this intruder caused you trouble?” Cinder says, flying above him.

Cinder swipes his hand, sending a cutting wind slash at Rev. Rev is out of sight before the attack can land. With one swift motion, Rev dashed up behind Cinder and drew his dagger. He is about to swipe it at Cinder’s neck, but seeing the source building up within him, he immediately chooses to retreat. As he does, an immense wind blast shoots out in a direction out of Cinder. The wind blast sent Phin flying backward, tumbling him across the cold, rocky ground. He tries to get up, but the air in his body has left him gasping for breath. Cinder searches for Rev then dashes toward him, fist ready to strike. Rev dodges with Cinder, seeing the crimson glow in Rev’s eyes. Cinders immediately changes his approach, he grabs the spear off his back. Rev sees Cinder coat the spear in source and the rapid coil that forms around it. Rev dashes forward at top speed and reaches out and disrupts the coil, stopping the attack. He then grabs the spear and uses it to spin around and kick Cinder in his eye. Cinder throws his spear with Rev still holding on. Rev now feels the weight of the spear and immediately lets go before it crashes down on him. The sound of the spear piercing the ground shakes the palace itself. Pine and Shun come running out to see what’s happening and stop Rev.

  “is that…” Pine whispers.

“Hey wait! Cinder, that’s REV!” Shun yells out.

Shun runs to Rev’s side as fast as he can. Cinder looks confused as he slowly floats down to them. Phin, finally being able to catch his breath, gets up to try to explain.

“That's…Rev…Thats Rev…am sorry. I should have told you Cinder.” Phin says.

Cinder says nothing and pulls his spear to him. Rev sees the source shoot out and grab the spear. It's heading straight towards Shun’s back. Rev quickly dash forward, pushing Shun out of the way. Rev looks up at Cinder from the ground, his eyes full of malice. Shun was none the wiser to what had just happened.

Cinder holds his cold expression. “Rev, how old are you child?” Cinder asks.

Rev grips his dagger, but Shun hold his him back “Don’t…just answer his questions, please” Shun tells Rev.

Rev scuffs and stands up. “I don’t know,” He responds.

“I was told you had a troubling past that created a strong resolved. I was told Ein chose you to be his student. I was told you attempted to protect the people of the palace when Loka attacked. What I wasn’t told is that you bear a curse feared far and wide. That your eyes shine like a pool of blood. And what I’d like to know is where you aline your self. Tell me child, who are your enemies and who are your allies? For what reason do you fight?” Cinder asks.

“My enemies…Loka killed my parents. Ash killed Ein and all the dragons I’ve seen have tried to kill me on sight. The elves made me into a slave, so I’d say I don’t like them very much. I did think burning their cities down would make me feel better, but I still hate them just as much as before. Most humans are scared of me, but there’s some good one. Other than you, I don’t remember making an enemy out of any cyclops I’ve met. For my reason to fight well, Loka murdering my family is my first memory. Everything bad that’s ever happened to me seems to lead back to him. Even Ein’s death. If ash had not been looking for Loka in Morton, Ein would of never died protecting me. Ein saved my life and I intend to have his sacrifice not be wasted. That is the reason I fight,” Rev tells Cinder.

“An outcast among outcast. Only Ein could see the light in such a dark and dreadful presence. I mean, that lived one with the word of the twin gods. I fear his heart was too open. He took in more than he could bear. He was to kind to nieve. Sometimes people don’t deserve a chance to grow, as he would put it. Tell me Rev, do you think you're a good person?” Cinder asks.

“Good person? I’ve been called a lot of things, and that’s not one of them. Ein told me the curse I have can not separate me from the twin gods. That they can fix me. They can make me better, make me good. If good is what Ein was, then I don’t know if I can ever be good. Not now at least; I can’t be good now. To be good would mean to forgive and the last things am going to do is forgive Loka for what he’s done. I am neither good nor bad in his eye, just a tool to be used when need. My life is nothing more than a test to see if I’m to his standard of use and for that I can not and will not forgive him even when his blood stains the ground below me.” Rev walks forward, looking Cinder in the eye. “Then and only after then will I worry about being a good person.” Rev tells Cinder.

Cinder gets done on a knee and looks deep into Rev’s crimson eyes. He reaches his hand out to Rev, a warm smile grows on Cinder's face. “Rev, it seems we are more alike than I could have ever imaged. Let me tell you, I remember a time well pain had no place in this world. Then, before my eye, it was ripped away. I saw my mother and father be slaughtered in front of me. I saw a war that had no end. Rev help me restore that peaceful world. Help me end this war once and for all. And I promise you, Loka’s life will be yours.” Cinder tells Rev.

The world around Rev can to a stop. Ever internal argument he’s ever had seemed to no longer matter as he started at the hand of Cinder.

Kill Loka “Kill Loka” Rev whispered.

Cinder’s grin grow wider and without a second thought Rev reached out and took his hand.

  “Deal” Rev said.

“NOOOOO!” Cass screamed as he dropped to his knees.

  “What’s wrong?” Bron asked.

“We…we didn’t make it…It over. It’s all over Bron. Evey single last one of them…there all going to die,” Cass says.

“What how? How did Cinder and Rev even meet? Where are they? We can still stop this, Cass. The twin gods still need us to fight.” Bron tells Cinder.

But Cass isn’t listening. He’s curled up in a ball on the ground, crying uncontrollably.

“AAAHHHH MAKE IT STOP!! MAKE IT STOP!!” Cass screams out in terror.

He tries to cover his eye, but it’s no use. “Cass, pull yourself together. There’s no time for this,” Bron says.

Cass’ body shakes violently as he holds on to Bron “No…you can’t see it Bron…You can’t hear there cries…It’s over Bron…we’re too late.” Cass dreadfully says.

Bron holds Cass in his arms. He looks up at the sky and wonders what they could have done differently. “Where did it all go wrong? Was I so to stop Rev the day he left? Should I’ve talked to him more?” He sighs. “I guess I can ask the same for him…Cinder when did you grow so cruel? To build a paradise on a foundation of corpses.” Bron thought.

In that moment, it felt as if the entire of the Eaven jungle was shaking. Even on the mountain Bron and Cass were on, it was felt.

“What is that?” A cyclops accompanying Cass and Bron asked.

Bron looks around and, as if all at once, the sound hit him.

  BOOOOOOOOOOM!

  BOOOOOOOOOOM!

  BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

  BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

As if the air was crying out for help. Bron began to shake and his breath grow heavy. “are you ok” A cyclops asked.

Bron’s eye twitched as the sound echoed through him and his soul itself. He gasped for air as he held his hands to his head, covering his ears. “It can’t be…is it really over…no…why”.

  “WHY!” Bron shouted.

“Why are they here!” Bron yelled.

“Bron, what’s wrong? Who’s here?” The cyclops asked.

Bron stared at the ground in defeat. “Dragons…” He whispered.

The sound of the air being ripped apart from the speed of the dragon’s flight had been the first memory Bron had of the start of the Elf dragon War. The sound scared him like nothing else. It was the sound that played every time the dragons attacked. Sound of the elves and Dragons fighting echoed throughout all of Eaven back then.

“Dragon? You're saying that sound is the dragon? I thought as long as the elf king lived, they wouldn’t dear to attack again. The war is over…isn’t it?” The cyclops hesitantly says.

Bron looks up. “As long as the two sides live, the war will never end. Those were Cinders’ last words to me before he left.” Bron said.

The other cyclops had never seen Bron look so defeated. All his will to fight had left him. He was a pillar of hope, an example of a warrior of the twin gods. A cyclops that had survived the elf dragon war. Someone to look up to, but now he seemed so small. He had been a pillar of hope, but it seemed as if all the hope in the world had suddenly abandoned him all at once. He sat on the ground, a defeated man before the fight had even started.

“Bron, get up…please. We need you to lead us. Cass said a lot of people are gonna die right. So let’s do our best to save as many as we can. To protect those who can not protect themselves. You made me take an oath. Please, sir, let me fallow through with it. Fear has no place in the heart of a believe!” A cyclops tells Bron.

Bron takes a deep breath and gets up. The sound of the dragons still echoing in his head, but none the less he pulls himself together.

“your right, Elpiden. Am should be a better example for you guys. The twins gods’ plans for us don’t end today. We must keep fighting! To Protect those who can not protect themselves. That is why we draw breath. That is why we fight. That is our god given purpose!” Bron yells out.

“YEAH!” the cyclops warrior yell out.

Cass looks up at them with Pitty, and yet a small smile appears on his face. He gets up from the ground, his eye red from crying. He walks over to them and places his hand in there’s. The others do the same as they start to form a circle on the side of the Mountain. They join hands and close their eye.

“I pray for strength. I pray for protection, and may the twin gods have mercy on us all.” Cass prays.
