Chapter 57

In an instant, all the air in a 20-mile radius is pulled in. Rev and Loka gasp for air. Cinder smiles, and the ground begins to shake. The powerful force violently pulled Rev and Loka inward, causing them to crash through and break the trees in their path. They spot Cinder with a wicked wide smile on his face.

  “Release” Cinder whispers.

The compressed air bursts from his palm, mixing with the air rushing in to fill the empty space. The air crashes into each other and begins the spiral from the clouds above, then touches down. It pulls in and shreds everything in its path, with Cinder standing in the middle. The vortex pulled Rev and Loka back in, shooting them higher and higher into the sky; however, Rev seemed focused only on Loka as he dashed towards him. Loka tries his best to heal and pushes Rev away. The rising water, trees, and large stones create many obstacles to maneuver around. Rev’s eyes stay dead shot on Loka. “I have to kill him. I’ve come all this way. Did I kill all those people for nothing? Did Ein die for nothing! I can’t believe I ever consider let him go.” Rev thought.

  Calm down child

  “What was that?” Rev asks.

  KILL LOKA!

Rev tries to cath his breath, but it’s more difficult then expected. “I have to kill him. Then I will all be over…right?” Rev thinks.

“I won’t have to kill anymore people…” Rev whispered

He spots his dagger swirling around in the storm and pulls it towards him, reaching out and grabbing it firmly. He dashes from tree to tree, catching back up to Loka. Cinder beings to coat the floor below him and shit up, giant piece of dirt and stone up into the growing cyclone. Rev, with his swift reflexes, easily dodges the attacks, but they wrap back around, never seeming to stop. “That guy’s crazy!” Rev thinks. Rev spots Loka.

“Rev, you need to get out of here! Tell me if you kill me, what then? Do you really think Cinder won’t hesitate to kill you? That guy hates elves more than me. He’s going to slaughter ever last one of them!” Loka yells out to Rev.

Rev scuff “So now you care about the lives of other!? SHUT THE FUCK UP LOKA!” Rev yells.

Rev dashes towards Loka with blood-shot eyes. They wrestle with each other in the sky.

“Rev just Liston-” Loka tries to say.

“NO! I’m tired of listening. I’m tired of playing this sick game of yours. I just hope you know your life is meaningless to me,” Rev says, his voice full of malice with no hits of remorse.

Rev tries to stab Loka in the chest, but it can’t seem to go through his ribs. “What?” Rev whispers.

“Am sorry Rev, but whether you like it or not this world needs you alive.” Loka says.

He grabs his dagger and shoves Rev away and out of the cyclone. Rev is flung away.

“LOKA!…” Rev screams as he reaches his hand out towards him.

Loka composes himself and dives straight down the cyclone, dodging or cutting any obstacles that get in his way. Cinder as he brings his arms apart, letting the special art act on its own. He starts to cast stone pillars at Loka. Loka makes sure to keep his source tight to his core. Right now the difference in source is far too much to risk Cinder grabbing hold of him. The cyclone, now acting on its own, starts to drift towards the shore. “Fuck” Loka thinks. He dashes forward, using the strong winds to lighten his fall. He pours his source to his feet to keep him anchored. He holds the dagger and glances at the inscription. “I see” Loka thinks. Cinder starts to swing and thrust his spear at Loka. Loka dodges and uses Cinders’ own wait against him the best he can, looking mostly to counter and not directly attack. Loka waits to better see how Cinder attack. Cinder creates walks and pillars to limit Loka’s movement as much as possible, but he still manages to escape ever attack. The clock is ticking; if the cyclops keeps growing and hits the shore, the orb is sure to break. Loka waits for a thrust attack and flick the dagger as if it was a playing card. It catches the wind and floats up behind Cinder. Loka immediately grabs the spear and launches himself toward Cinder, crashing himself into his stomach. As Cinder is about to close in on him, he swaps with the dagger. Loka then wraps his legs around Cinder's neck while Cinder essentially stabs himself with the dagger. Loka then quickly cast a water orb and freeze around Cinder’s head. He wind blast the back of his head, having him fall on the dagger pushing it in deeper as he hits the ground, but it’s not enough. As Cinder hits the ground, he uses his source to control the surrounding air to twist his body and kick Loka away. Loka brings his hands up to block, but still gets blasted away. Cinder hits the ground, feeling a spike of pain. He quickly gets up and pulls the dagger out. Loka shoots his source out and pulls himself back to the ground. Cinder throws the dagger at him and Loka catches it, but quickly throws it away. As expected, Cinder swaps with the dagger. Loka spear heads it for his ship. “I can’t do this right now,” Loka thinks. He rushes to the ship as fast as he can, letting himself be picked up by the cyclone. Carefully coats the air around him and flies over to the ship using the cyclone as a way to launch himself. Once he spots it, he dives. Loka slows himself down and dives into the water, then quickly blasts himself up into the melting ship. He grabs the orb just as the cyclone gets close enough to back up the ship. “I made-”

  …WHOOOOOOSH

Cinder spear comes bolting in, shooting straight into Loka’s upper back and out his stomach. Loka had used the little time he had to pile up his source on the where the spear would hit to keep his body from exploding on impact. Cinder then comes diving, breaking the ship in half on landing. Loka drops the orb, watching it sink to the ocean floor. Cinder then grabs the back of the spear and flings Loka to the shore, where he quickly follows. Loka can barely move as he tries to get up. Cinder coats the trees behind him and pulls them to him, twisting them around him. Cinder then creates a giant stone pillar with a gap for Loka’s head. Then pulls in several more tries to tie him down.

Cinder smile “It seems it was a disserves to underestimate you as much as I did. The ways in which you have refined your source control almost make me feel unworthy of using it.” Cinder laughs.

“But it seems this is your end-”

“You’re going to lose,” Loka manages to barely say.

Cinder glares at him and gets in close, still hesitant. “Your one to talk about losing. Or am I mistaken, is this part of your master plan? The last time we met, you seemed to have it all figured out, but from what I see now. You look nothing like a god. You told me you’d fix this world. Instill proper order…What happened, Loka?”

“I…guess I made a mistake, well it was an accident, really. I never expected Rev to go as far as he did. I wonder how things would have changed if another elf had turned and survived before him. Or if he had just died…that day…” Loka says.

The life is fading from Loka’s eyes. Blood drips down from his mouth on to the floor as the storm rages behind him. Cinder begins to crush him with the trees and stone. Blood blast out from his mouth. Cinder wind blast he the blood away from him. The spear lodged in Loka’s back prevents him from properly controlling any of his source to heal.

Cinder leans in close and with a smile asks, “Loka, any last words?”

As blood pours out of his mouth. “you win…twin gods…” Loka mouths with his lips.

Cinder smirks and brings his hand together, watching as Loka’s flesh is crushed. Cinder lets the cyclone take the stone and tree away, revealing the distasteful sight. Only Loka’s bone is in tacked there, purple color shining through. Cinder grabs his spear as the cyclone fully hits the water. Cinder pays no further attention to it as he gets up to fly away. “Now where did you go Rev?” Cinder thinks. The cyclone pulls the ocean water up. The orb is carried up with it high into the sky. Once it reaches the top, it's shot out to back to the shore. As Cinder blast himself back towards the ambush site Rev lays face up to the sky impaled by a jagged stone he had landed at. Rev is completely unaware that Loka has died. He fight to get up and heal, but his spine his been shattered. “Get up…Get up!” Rev thinks to himself. slowly heals himself and wind blast himself towards a tree that he grabs onto and absorbs the source from. He slowly starts to walk, absorbing the source from all the surrounding trees. A path of withered trees trails behind him. He looks through the forest and sees a dense source out put. It’s Loka’s sword still planted into the ground where had been trying to rest, but now the tree he was resting on is gone. He grabs the handle and tries to pull it up, but it’s heavier than expected. He has some source go to the ground and keep the rest in his core. He then repels the two sources against eachother. This helps him pull the sword out. He soon realizes how large it is in his hands compared to Loka’s. Before Rev could better catch his breath, Cinder arrives floating in the air above the scattered waste land, the cyclone left behind.

“Loka’s dead. I know I told you, you could deal the last blow and am sorry, but don’t worry, you’ll be able to talk to him soon.” Cinder says as a sinister smile appears on his face.

Rev looks up at him unable to fully comprehend what he’s being told “He’s…dead?” Rev asks.

“You know what kid, sense I’ll soon accomplish my goal, I’ll grant you this one favor.” Cinder says. He dashes to Rev and picks him up. Rev, in a state of shock, doesn’t even attempt to dodge. His body goes limp, and he drops the sword, having it slice right back into the ground. Cinder flies over to where Loka’s body was crashed and throws Rev right in front him on the sandy shore.

“See, unlike him, I never tell a lie,” Cinder says.

Rev looks up from the sand to see a disfigured body and a pool of blood. He slowly walks over to it and drops to his knees. “Is this him…” Rev thinks.

  “Loka?” Rev whispers.

An overwhelming distress crashes into him. He didn’t think this is what it would feel like to finally see him dead. “He’s dead…no….he can’t be…no!…no,no, NO!” Rev thought. Rev’s hands begin to shake and curl into a tight fist as he slams down on the pool of blood. His eye flood crimson as he paranoid ly looks around. He runs over to the shore and looks down into the water.

“What’s wrong kid? I thought this is what you wanted?” Cinder says.

Rev glares up at him, malice in his eyes. “WHERE IS HE! TELL ME WHERE HE IS!” Rev screams out.

Cinder dash in front of him. His body casting a dark shadow on Rev. He then unexpectedly back hands Rev across the face, launching him into Loka’s dismantled remains.

He then turns to face him. “He’s right there and sense you seem to be worried about him, I’ll kill you right where he died.” Cinder says.

Rev now covered in Loka’s remains with blood dripping down his face, unclear of if it’s his or Loka’s.

“NO! HE CAN’T BE DEAD! I DIDN’T SEE YOU KILL HIM!” Rev shouts.

Cinder gives a genuinely puzzled look. “What?”

Rev looks dagger into Cinder as he drowns in a state of denial. “This could be anybody! It’s just a pile of blood and bone…” Rev says.

He digs his hands in and pulls out a bone “See!…wait” Rev lower his tone.

He looks at the bone in his hand. It’s purple color shining in the light. “It’s…” Rev remember back in the prison that held steel. “That’s Loka’s skeleton,” he said.

  “He’s…dead”

The crimson fades from his eyes as he looks at the bone. “It’s source metal. He replaced his skeleton…What the fuck” Rev thought.

“Seems you finally came to your sense, if I can even call it that, but you’ve exhausted my given grace. As your essence dying with in, I guess it feels only right. Tell me Rev, any last words?” Cinder asks.

  “STOOOOOOOOOP!!!!!”
